Need to stop blaming IU for Penix injuries and his transfer to UW

The only contact injury Penix had at IU was on a designed run. The other was when he had just ran out of bounds. The only thing you can point to being an issue with being at IU was that he was having to run/escape more often at IU, which may have assisted in his injuries.

Penix did better at UW because their offensive line was a lot better. Penix is the #1 QB in the nation when he is protected and relaxed. He stinks when he is pressured, which happened more often at IU. When Michigan got him rattled, he was overthrowing and forcing throws. If he is going to make it in the NFL, he will need to handle pressure better.

He dropped himself from a possible low 1st rounder to a probable low 3rd, upper 4th rounder with that game the other night...

There were plays to be made even when he was pressured but he panicked and got tunnel vision and didn't see the whole field... The whole NFL saw that and if he does ever start in the League they'll be sending heat every chance they get...

His arm strength and quick realease will still get him drafted but he'd better hope its to somewhere he doesn't have to play early... Going lower might actually help him in that respect... He still needs to develop his game to where he can function under duress...

I think someone will draft him higher because QB. But he needs time to develop.

Apparently you did not pay much attention on Monday. Penix was under pressure the whole night. Hence he did not have the same numbers he had been putting up. As far as injuries his shoulder injury was a result of a quarterback sneak.

I've wondered what GM will be brave enough to draft him on day 2 given his injury history. His Michigan performance makes him an even worse bet so I'm guessing Day 3.

Agree.......he's had the perfect system for him at UW and for his 1 good year at IU. Quick release, quick release, tire out the rushers, then go deep. His great game at MSU was like that. How he will do in the NFL when things break down....an open question. But I do think he still gets drafted in the 2nd round.
