A year ago this week I got to play Royal Portrush while on a golf trip to N. Ireland. Most of our group thought it was the best course that we played. The rough is very penal. It grabs the hosel of your club and makes it impossible to recover. The town of Portrush is really small. The Harbour Bar and several other bars and restaurants are less than a mile from the course. I did birdie No. 17 which is one of the new holes. My score was about 92 I believe. I know two guys in our group who broke 80. I am really looking forward to watching the Open this week. It starts at 1:30 am. our time tomorrow.
