Names on the back of jerseys...

I think they look great
Sorry, Strongly disagree. Announcers slow to call out some names, I don’t have a roster out to watch the game and don’t have People memorized. From purely a fan friendly move, they need and should put names back on.

I’m super duper pro-IU fan and support all else about Glass, but would advise him the goodwill he could get if he just says “Have listened, we are going to put the names back” declare victory and call it a day!

Another thread trashed by the uberOrdtroll. Every one he touches. If IU wins tonight he will be on a rampage.

Agreed. Makes it tougher for announcers and fans to identify players. It will be worse when you see them in person. Not a smart move.

If you're on here you can go to the official INDIANA official site and get the roster...

I can't stand the jerseys. I've had to head to the official roster at least 6 times so far in the first half. I agree with others. There is ZERO upside to this jersey move. Learn your lesson, Glass. Announce a change this week and move on.

On tv it looked a division 3 game. Empty bleachers. A play would be run and the announcers were speechless. Another genius marketing move.

Watched some of the Notre Dame game last night. No names on the backs of their jerseys. Didn’t hear any former players or current fans bitching about it this week. Just go play.

Never arguing IU shouldn’t go out and play, and play damn hard too!

But please don’t try to be something you’re not. IU is NOT ND, we are IU, and I love who IU is. But be who we are, as Hep himself said, (something along lines of) “We have the names on the back to be accountable to the name on the front!”

It’s a bad idea that wasn’t communicated well, is not fan friendly nor parents of players or recruits friendly either. Premise is “about team only” suggests ego problems with the players, which in #LEO system I think is totally
Misplaced view.

I love the uniforms (or frankly don’t care what they wear as long as nice which these are), just want the AD, who I also support, to compromise and just put darn names back on. Then the universe will be aligned again!

I like Fred Glass as an AD very much. And I rarely care about peripheral matters such as uniforms. But as a fan trying to watch on tv last night I found it extremely inconvenient not having the names on the jerseys. I had a hard time keeping track of who was who, especially new guys and guys who changed numbers (wasn't Hale #10 before?).

I get the sentiment and I don't disagree. But with a hundred guys, all wearing helmets, and especially with duplicate numbers, I think names on the back is the fan-friendly thing to do. I'd like to see the admin listen to the fans on this one. As another poster said, it's good in intent but not so good on execution.

Thank you for great summary of what many are feeling. We love IU, HATE to criticize anything uniform related 99% of time and just want to fully rally behind the Hoosiers! It’s just such a silly inconvenience that no one was calling for I’m hoping AD will make a change on that and unify everyone!
