My Wish for this Board

i would love for everyone to post something positive about our coaches or our players who have worked hard all summer and show them some love. Football is not an easy sport to prepare for or practice like basketball. Go Hoosiers beat the Panthers!!
Sunshine Pumper ;)

I'll play, Coach Hagen is an outstanding position coach with a bright coaching future. I hope he stays around Hoosier football for a long time. He was a tough linebacker in his playing days and played on winning teams.

As for the players, I appreciate the ridiculous amount of work and time they put into football. I hope we win every damn game this year!!!

Like basketball? I would be okay with darts or golf.

I am very happy that CTA realized that our biggest weakness last year was that we weren't physical enough. Whether or not the new strength staff gets results is yet to be seen, but the biggest issue in my opinion was addressed. I'm very interested in seeing how the offense changes. The coaches said we will use more of the field. That sounds like we are going to some of CKW playbook when he was at IU.

Give the coaches and players benefit of the doubt for effort, heart and desire to win. Let the games play out and then judge fairly as we go. There may be some disappointments along the way, but I believe this team from staff thru players are on the same page with a very positive outlook and future for a bowl year ahead.

I also personally do like Fred Glass and feel the facilities and tracking of the FB program is also going well. But I respectfully STRONGLY disagree with no names on back of jersey's and do hope he listens to feedback and reconsiders that move. Not only do players get pride in seeing their names on the back representing the school on the front, but truly from a fan perspective live at game or on TV, it really helps to see a name and not have to try and flip thru a program or roster list to know who's who. Not everyone has the whole team memorized and it just seems silly to not have names on the backs. Hope he is not afraid to say "we listened, and names are going back on the jerseys" as I don't think the stakeholders of players & fans would be for this move, well intentioned or not.

Most likely if there is a big jump in results associated with S&C, it will be more so because things had fallen off during Caton's time. If Ballou/Rhea are as good as advertised, there might probably just be a modest jump over a quality S&C program, but IU could make up the most ground by simply getting back up to par.

This doesn't lessen my excitement about Ballou/Rhea, just pointing out to those that might be skeptical of a big S&C jump

Apparently the decision was joint decision between him and CTA.

Many less injuries in camp already is also a result of their work.

I'm not giving them all the credit but ND looked like a different team last year as compared to the year before.

I'm extremely excited to watch Reese Taylor play football. The last time I was this excited about a player was probably Jerimy Finch who proceeded to block two punts in the first few games.

There is a real opportunity for the unheralded defensive players to grab starting roles. I think we'll find out this year if our defense improved because we had talented upperclassmen or if the schemes are just that good.

I appreciate the effort everyone; coaches, staff and players, have put into growth and improvement since the Bucket game ended. These people have worked tirelessly and we need to support them the same way.

I love the no names on back approach in basketball, but its just not very practical in football----too many players. And I know that PSU does it......but IU isn't PSU in football.

My positive message is that CTA appears to be a class act........I don't recall a single event/act so far in his tenure that led me to doubt his character.....pretty rare for a college football coach.

I give all the players a ton of credit for how hard they’ve worked to prepare for the season.

I think this is a great time for all of us to pause, forget about what happened last year, and go into this year with an open mind and positive outlook. I think we can win 7-8 games this year. I’m going to be positive and expect this until I’m proven otherwise.

Hopefully the board can come together at least to begin the year on a positive note before anything happens to divide us. I know everyone on this board just wants IUFB to win. Hopefully this is our breakthrough year!

Agreed...I'm looking forward to having our last game not be last year's loss to Purdue :)

FB questions start to be answered Saturday. I'll be tuned in and watching.

I like the direction of our Athletic Department. Be it men/women's basketball, football, soccer, baseball, mens/women's swimming. I think that we're doing things the right way...something we've always been proud of in the Hoosier nation.

I will say this as a lifelong Hoosier fan (born and raised in Bloomington...deep familial ties to IU athletics...profound personal relationships with former athletes...my brother being one...) I really haven't felt as positive about our athletic prospects in a long time...since probably the late 80's...(thinking Mallory, Knight and Yeagley...even a legend named Loring)...I'm sure I've missed sports with appeal to others on this board.

I don't think we're "home"...but we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's to doing the right things...the right way.

Do right and risk the consequences...that's a motto in my family.

I'll shout out to the coaches and players. The effort and energy is there. I hope the "W's" follow. I'll be watching every snap and do everything I can to win from my couch. (Candy strips every game day if I'm at home. Huge Grin!)

I'll shout out to this board too. Passion on all sides. Mostly good debates. I hope we have a bunch of positives to discuss on Sunday's.
Go Hoosiers!

Gotcha my friend...just the sports I follow with some degree of regularity.

Good will beget good...I suspect there are great hires and great incumbents I cannot recognize.

Well, I decided to go to The Tom Allen radio show at the Holliday Inn tonight. CTA and the players were all very good. I happened to be sitting where they all exited the room. When CTA walked by I said “Good show coach” He stopped and said “Thank you” very sincerely and shook my hand. What a gentleman. Then when J. Crawford came by I said the same thing. He stopped said a sincere “Thank you” and shook my hand. Then W. Martin did the exact same thing. They were all so nice and just perfect gentlemen. I was very impressed.
