My problem of staying home

Here is the latest on my internet connectivity issue.
Very early in the morning, 6-ish I think, I got a note from xfinity that they will be resetting my router. They said it would take about 15 mins. It appears that they did. Now, nothing works, not even the emails,

Now what?:(

Emails are back! Now, I am back to where I was yesterday, except that I have this uneasy feeling that this guy really was not a Comcast guy. He may have read my post here, and pretended to be a Comcast tech to try to hack my system. Good thing I did my best to remove some valuable stuff before this so-called Comcast tech messed with my pc. Last night, I removed some financial stuff and other sensitive files off the system. I Left all porno files on the computer for him to waste his time just in case!:p

I was right that my Internet connection problem was Internet-related, not my PC nor my wife(;)), Xfinity service to be specific.

After umpteen numer of my calls & emails, Xfinity finally sent me an email that they have problems in our area. The internet connection is and will be down until April 10, 4:26 pm. 4:26 pm? How can they be so precise?

Anyway, I am relieved to know the status. I will just hold my breath until 4:26 pm, April 10. Thank you all for your concerns & suggestions!

On the first day I decided to stay home, and that was a few days ago, my computer started acting funny. Now, I can only get Xfinity and for emails only! I tried every which way w/o success. It is 3 yrs old, so decided to buy new one, but all computer shops are closed!

using an iPhone to post an article on the WaterCooler is no fun! :(
I hope you and your wife aren't at this point.:)

Hooray! I've got my Internet back! In fact, I am typing this using my PC, instead of an iPhone.

After trying every which way, I was finally able to get on a chat session. They decided that my modem was too old (20+ years?) and decided to send me new one. I was ecstatic!

A couple of days later, I got an email telling me that the modem was shipped and they will be charging me 170 some dollars and it will be arriving today. So, thought, "oh, well, I can spend $170 for the sake of my sanity!."

They sent me another email, telling me that it would arrive on 4/14(today). I told myself "Ureka!" and started waiting.

I woke up this morning(4/14), excited to get a new modem, and I opened the browser just out of habit! And there it was! I got the Internet back, after nearly 3 weeks!

So I decided to open another chat session with Xfinity, and naturally another person responded. I told her the whole story. She said, "no problem! I will send a new modem for you, if you really want one!" Being confused why she would send me new modem free of charge when the other guy said there would be a charge. She said if the modem is one installed by Xfinity, they replace it free of charge, which I thought they ought to do.

I decided to return the new modem when it arrives, just in case there really is a charge,
and when this pandemic is over I will go to the local Xfinity Service place and iron it out. In the mean time, if the new modem arrives, I will return it if I can.

Having said that, I just saw a Fedex van stopping in front of my house, looking for something for a long time, and I think it is the new modem he was looking for. He just left. I am dying to see whether he will return tomorrow with a new modem.

I'd be shocked if your modem was anywhere close to 20 years old.

Did they explain what changed to get your connection back?
