This unelected non-American just had his body guards sworn in.

What if he wants more? What if he wants a small army?

The fox is in the henhouse, fellas, and we put him there. We didn't elect him there. We PUT him there.

And I heard a GOP official say "well, wouldn't you want a guy like Musk, who doesn't need $, in charge of our purse strings?"

Um....NO. And EMPHATIC no. A **** NO from me, sirs.

Never...NEVER...put somebody in charge who has nothing to lose, and never give a man we didn't elect any bit of authority over OUR country.

And spare me the "Musk is done accumulating money, power, etc.".....he's just getting started. This guy absolutely craves the attention, just as much as Trump.

Good luck convincing the rest of us that Ukraine is the bad guy and Musk and Trump are the good guys, MAGA.

I hope I’m wrong, but he’s on a different plane now. His obscene wealth just got his foot in the door. He’s after the type of power money can’t buy.

Half the country bought the bullshit and voted for this mess.

And don’t give me a Harris yabbut, meltdown man and others. You could hate her without voting for and continuing to endorse this freak show.

We saw what happened during his first term, and particularly at the end - - November 5, 2020 to January 20, 2021. There was no doubt, at least not for any thinking, clear-headed person, that a second Trump term would be replete with gaslighting, chaos and lawlessness.

I saw he was 'joking' about a 3rd term yesterday by asking the crowd if they want him to run again. He'll keep litmus testing that over the next year or so, but it will be shocking to no one when he actually tries to ram that through. The only thing that would be shocking about that is if he doesn't do it and if his MAGA cult doesn't cheer it on. There will some be some BS rationalization for it that will be parrotted by some of the usuals here. I'm sure of it.

I have to hope that all of the people that didn't vote in 2024 because they didn't like either candidate will realize their mistake and do so in 2028.

People are feeling the effects of the Trump/Musk wrecking ball all over the country. Members of Congress are hearing from constituents by the thousands. Blue states and red states. People are showing up at town halls and other public forums in large numbers. The two megalomaniacs running the country never anticipated this blowback. And it’s only going to get larger and louder.

I think the missing piece here is that countering any bad outcomes will require the Democrats to grow a spine and really push back and make Trump own it. I think we're entering a period when some of those strong Democratic governors should essentially start auditioning for a '28 run (Shapiro, Beshear, Whitmer, Polis, etc).

'We The People' pushing back is great an necessary, but there needs to be strong opposition voices leading the charge. I'm not sure Chuck Schumer is the guy to do that.

If we are cutting back on firefighting in National Parks, I want to see us cutting back on Secret Service staffing as well. Not gonna happen, though. DJT probably has a crew assigned just to bringing him Big Macs on demand.

Completely agree re Schumer. Old, no charisma, unlikable, has become a caricature of himself.

Two to watch that you haven’t mentioned. Wes Moore and Mikie Sherrill. Both vets (Moore is a combat vet) and extremely impressive. Sherrill’s problem is that she’s “just” in the House. Tough to go directly to the presidency from there. Maybe a Moore/Sherrill ticket.

I totally agree. The cupboard isn’t completely bare for the Democrats, but some of these people need to start stepping up, pushing back and maybe most importantly get name recognition.

Yes, far from bare. And as @BCCHoosier said in my chainsaw thread, the midterm commercials are writing themselves.

As an aside, I enjoy your posts. Always thoughtful and reasonable.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Whenever you and a few other folks are weighing in in on posts/threads, those posts are always better for it.

Good grief. I can’t belive so many heads exploded at one time over a nothingburger.

Musk receives more death threats than anybody not named Trump. His body guards are now allowed to actually be armed while in D. C. Would you rather the FBI or Secret Service do the job?

Now you are talking about Mt. Rushmore! WTF? Do you even hear yourselves?
