Move Fred to Varsity club, hire Chris Reynolds

Back from Bradley. Someone that knows how this program is supposed to be run.

Bad move.

IMO, you cannot put a guy in charge that has no background running either an FBS or Group of 5 total sports package. It’s the total sports, with the two sports of football and b-ball carrying the torch.
Going with an old, Knight guy with no experience managing at a high level within a major conference would be another experiment.

I still don’t get the fascination with keeping it all about IU connections? Have some vision and move forward.

Chris is a smart guy but would he be ready for the big leagues? IU wants to pretend it’s in the big time, start hiring big time personnel.

No one has the training he does. You want to bring another clown who is hired from some university committee that knows nothing. Universities are full of those type. Look at IU now. We are a joke.

From a sports standpoint Chris would be awesome, however from a kissing ass and getting big checks from donors I'm not so sure, but that's all IU cares about anyways.

Problem is our AD is not committed to winning. What does that mean. It means realizing that sports is a dirty business and you better be able to take the good with the bad. Example: Sean Miller- What do you think Freddy would have done had he been AD at Arizona under pressure from public opinion. I mean Glass fires Wilson cause he was making kids play through some injuries, seriously. We had just gone to back to back bowls, granted not great ones, but still from where the program was. Also, look at the NFL talent Wilson was getting. Yea I know he lost at home to Rutgers. Glass is the problem.

Rather lose very game than for IU to get down and dirty like others do

Scott I'm not saying blatantly cheat, but let's be honest do you think Duke is 100% clean? Also there has to be a way around the APR penatlies am I really to believe we are the only school facing a penalty should players defect, come on now.

I simply cannot fathom why you would work in athletics and not have winning be your highest priority. People don’t buy tickets to watch athletes graduate or get good grades. This fanbase needs to stop being patient and wake up to see the scam that is being run by IU. They ask for your money but give nothing in return. Stop buying tickets. Stop donating.

You nailed it, until the money stops flowing nothing will change.

Because it's not about winning it's about making money and most times you need to win to get big donations, but for whatever reason IU gets money when they lose. Makes no sense to me.

Winning should be the goal of the IU athletic department.

How may millions of times are you and Fpeaugh gonna say the same things over and over? You both are either the same person, or you're Pat Knight and Fpeaugh must be your father/Bob Knight? From what I can tell from reading both of your messages on this and the football board, you both are ruining this website, in my opinion.

Our biggest mistake was firing Sampson. Nothing he did is against current rules. He should've been put on a short leash but not fired. Izzo, Cal, Self, Roy, and SMiller have done far worse and didn't get canned. But those schools care about winning.

LOL! it was not about phone calls but his breaking the same rules that he did at Oklahoma. Also it was the type of kids he was bringing in kids that did not represent IU in the right way. The worst thing we did was Hired Sampson in the first place because he should have never been hired.

He brought in some stoners. Big deal. Izzo brings in rapists and nothing happens to him.

Fred Glass is an IU grad. He reminisces in talks about his time in Knot Hole Park going down the hill on a cardboard box or sitting in the balconies of Assembly Hall. He knows plenty about IU tradition and yet over the course of 10 years his management of the coaching hires has been a disaster.

So, Fred may be the biggest IU fan we have ever had in the seat but that hasn’t produced results. My argument is that all these entrenched IU people stick to the status quo and don’t move forward with thinking outside the box.
They keep people that have had no exposure to other big time universities and that makes us look like amateur hour because when all you are used to running is “Mayberry” you don’t get a set of fresh eyes that see how it is done at other schools. They develop tunnel vision because that’s all they’ve ever known.

This is my point:

IU has an entrenched group of people in the AD that have only ever known IU. So, when they make decisions, it’s always with IU goggles on their face. It’s not working. Other schools have branched out and selected people that have a high success rate doing it at other schools. I think as long as we think “small time IU,”. we’ll get small time results. The past tradition is just that: the past. Time to move forward because whatever nostalgia we are trying to conjure up with these “IU people” ain’t working now.

Did Rick Greenspan wear IU googles

I prefer IU teams error on the side of being a bit over-cautious when it comes to player injuries.
i too, prefer to err on the side of caution. in race's case, maybe too much erring. or is it erroring?

Well....if you are wanting an upgrade from Fred, I just don’t think you go with Chris at this time. If he was an AD previously at a Power 5 school, I’d say without question. He was a deputy director of athletics at Northwestern, so he has that going for him. Fred may have already wrote his own obituary and successor when he said:

Fred Glass, Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
"Chris Reynolds is an outstanding hire for Bradley University. He is a man of the highest ethical standards and great character. Chris' contagious personality will lift everyone around him. His commitment to, and enthusiasm for, Bradley University will be evident from day one. Bradley University is to be congratulated for choosing Chris Reynolds."

His avatar says he "joined" in 09/2001. You remember the exact date you put him on ignore almost 18 years ago? Whether you read/or see their posts or you don't, putting them on ignore doesn't change the fact their posts are ruining whatever IU sports forums they post on. Maybe their garbage doesn't affect you since you have him/them on ignore, but their garbage negatively affects thousands of other IU BB and FB fans.

so this is why are football program has basically sucked for 120 years. good to know...i guess?

Uh....no. Our football program sucked because our athletic departments (plural-multiple, over years) treated it as an afterthought. No investment. We thought basketball would carry us for forever.

Guess what happened? All the so-called “football schools” in this conference built basketball programs on the backs of football teams. And, they passed us by. That’s how Wisconsin was able to build the Kohl Center and beat us like a rented mule every year. IU simply ignored the formula of the other conference members. It’s also why we are now at the bottom of the conference in basketball. No balance in the athletic department. Bye bye IU basketball.

ahhhh --- sooooooo 120 years of sucking and it all comes down to lack of investment. gotcha

Wisconsin doesn't beat us because of the Kohl center. they beat us because of Bo Ryan and his system.

okay...ya...bye bye IU bball. you declare it dead so it's dead. will a presser be held later today?

you truly suck at this.
