I wonder if the Thome kid is Jim's son? I'm guessing he is, but I didn't know if Jim moved back to IL or not.

They do commit way too young. The big schools just inventory them and most wind up not even seeing the field. Most recruiting analysts/services recommend going *anywhere* else and playing. Transfer up to the big school. Don't sit for two years and then try to take a step down. I guess that's obvious, but the allure of committing to a big school is powerful.
