Pearl is a West Side legend. He would land Lander. Make it happen IU.

Pearl's won big everywhere he's been but I'm not sure he'd give up Auburn for IU. Auburn can certainly afford any money IU can offer. He might like chance to coach at a "basketball school" but the fact is IU is not the destination job many of us like to think it is/was.

They just had Gameday at Auburn and he was saying how the fans are now reaping the reward and they have been great from the start. Was a great environment. It is sad, but IU doesn't have the advantage of fan base at this point anymore. The passion is no more than an Auburn or Iowa these days. Sucks.

Doesn’t Pearl have a former assistant coach in prison??
Pearl was at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville and had that D2 school like 25-5 for several years in a row. I thought he tattled on somebody else's wrongdoing and then he was a bit of an outcast from coaches and schools' points of view.
Better google some of this, this is by my memory. About 1994-1998.

No I’m talking about an assistant from Auburn. Chuck Person maybe?

Pearl was given a 3 year show cause by the NCAA's. Like Sampson, he can coach. Also like Sampson, I wouldn't touch him with a 10 and a half foot pole.

Auburn is in a different strata financially. They could and would out duel IU from a money standpoint.

Pearl is hard to dislike but as with Pitino, there is considerable baggage. Are we that desperate yet? I hope not.
He's a bit too orange ... we already been through an orange coach.

Anyone that does that to themselves is phoney, superficial and lacks self awareness.

No more orange coaches ..

Man, I hate all this sad sack crap. Of course the passion is greater. You're comparing a school coming off a F4 run that is playing well and ranked in the top 10 to our program mired in the muck of mediocrity... and yet we still had 17K+ at the PU game. Bball at Auburn matters if they're winning and until: 1) the season ends, or 2) spring football starts. If they had 1 season like we've had, attendance would drop significantly, and yet we are still getting great crowds for a substandard product. 3 seasons of this? Auburn's arena would be a ghost town. The passion of the fanbase is here. Now, maybe he likes the SEC and being able to hide behind their fball program, but if he wanted to compete at the highest level with the Dukes, UNC's, KU and UKs, he would have to come to IU. It ain't happening at Auburn. Their money will always flow to fball.

Pearl is going to be 60 before the season ends. You really want to build your program with someone nearing the end of his career?

He's also a cheater and a bit of a fraud. Like most orange people are.
