The man who does not believe in evolution who was appointed as the coronavirus czar by Trump. Based on the White House model, with status quo social distancing, Georgia was not supposed to be ready for phase 1 until June 15. And now they are opening up their economy and freaking Pence is saying that this is going to be behind us by Memorial Day weekend.

What a week this has been. With Trump and Fox News pumping malaria drugs, Trump saying that the CDC should study injections of toxic cleaning chemicals and Pence saying that this is all going to be behind us in about five weeks - WTF!

The Fed’s involvement in all of this can only be described as gross malfeasance. Fauci is now on his own since Birx had her backbone removed somehow this past week. Hopefully the good people of Georgia are smarter than the hucksters who are throwing Georgia’s citizens under the bus. Time will tell.

It is literally like they are making the plan up each day, revising it, then throwing it away. Rinse and repeat. One day it is Liberate and then the next day they criticize the states moronic enough to open.

The end game is to shift blame and be able to defend any position no matter the outcome. Take credit if things go good and shift blame if not.

The fools defending his disinfectant comment only add to the fun. No longer are we to believe what we saw and heard when it come from Trump's mouth. There is always a defense. Bizarre times.

It’s the absolute worst display of leadership I’ve seen in my lifetime. The amount of people that defend this is truly shocking

I’ve read over and over that all anyone in this White House does is try to get to the next news cycle and never consider looking ahead. That’s pretty clear in the response to this crisis. When they first heard about it their response was to ignore it and hope it would go away. Then they finally got serious about it for a few weeks. Now they are pretending it’s going to go away on its on, pretending it’s time to open up, pretending it’s not going to come back in the fall. As the death toll mounts, that is their response. Yet we will still have people here making excuses for it.

Call me pedantic, but this is not actually the case.

Pence was originally put in charge of COVID messaging, coordinating between agencies, and cutting red tape where necessary. I thought it was a good call (although we all know Trump was setting Pence up for the fall if things went south). For several weeks early on, the messaging and recommendations were clear and consistent, and Pence appeared to be making some progress with 3M on ramping up mask production. At the daily briefings, Pence got up there, sucked Trump's ass a bit, then laid out where things stood. Fauci and Birx offered up their more detailed expert views on what was happening.

Then... Fauci (and Birx to a lesser extent) started getting a lot of positive press and became the face of the government's response. Pence was getting some props as well. Trump couldn't stand seeing someone else stealing his place in the sun. So he inserting himself into the briefings, and couldn't help but musebabbling (tm) while he was up there -- which effected the government's response. Whatever nonsense he blurted out had to be followed up on, and the proper processes got sidelined.

It's been all downhill since then.

The silver living of Cloroxgate may be a return to the previous public messaging on the government's response. Pence will outline the steps being taken, and Fauci and Birx will fill in the details and specifics. Trump won't be there to fvck it up.

Speaking of not looking ahead here is Elon Musk on March 6 tweeting that the coronavirus panic is dumb. Note that it was quickly “liked” over 1.6 million times.

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/486543-elon-musk-panic-over-the-coronavirus-is-dumb

March 6th was also the day our president said anyone who wanted to be tested for Covid 19 could be tested when asked if enough testing kits were available [Not accurate then or now].

This Trump quote may get as much political hype during the election year as Obama's, "If you like your doctor, you can keep him".

What do you expect from an administration that was tossing out paper towels to the victims of the massive hurricane that hit Puerto Rico? I'm starting to be less afraid of the Trump administration than I am the voters who put these bozos in place (directly or indirectly).

It's amazing that America has 1/3 of the Coronavirus cases worldwide, but these morons keep trying to blow sunshine up our asses about the job they've done.

Pompeo today on ABC's This Week when Martha Raddatz asked if he believes Coronavirus is a man-made or genetically modified virus: "The best experts in the world believe this to be man-made (by the Chinese)".

Pompeo fifteen seconds later after being told by Raddatz that the US Director of National Intelligence says "the scientific consensus is that the virus was not man made or genetically modified": "That's right. I agree with that." Then he goes on to ramble on in incoherent mumbo jumbo so later he'll be able to deny everything.

These are the people in charge. Makes me confident.

If any one person from this administration told me it was raining outside, I'll look for myself.

Trump administration should have taken notes on how the Obama administration handled the swine flu.. True leadership!

We could only wish he had responded like Obama did to the H1N1 (Swine Flu):

Though the H1N1 virus had begun spreading in Mexico, the first case in the United States was detected on April 15, 2009, in a 10-year-old patient in California. Two days later, CDC laboratory testing confirmed a second infection in an 8-year-old also living in California. Within one week, the CDC had activated its Emergency Operations Center to respond to what it had identified as an emerging public health threat.

Before the end of April, the government had declared a public health emergency and started releasing medical supplies and drugs from the CDC’s Strategic National Stockpile. “The real-time PCR test developed by CDC was cleared for use by diagnostic laboratories by FDA under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) on April 28, 2009, less than two weeks after identification of the new pandemic virus,” the CDC notes on its website.

The test developed by the CDC was created quickly. It was accurate.

Sadly, we're stuck with someone that's clearly the worst, most uninformed, unprepared, intellectually incurious president we've ever had. If you can't recognize that...and you clearly can't...you're a fool. Unfortunately I can't pity you because you're part of the problem.

didn't read but I'm sure its all true.
Obama could do no wrong.

Lol not a Trump fan. I don't see how you guys function everyday with him in office..

My apologies. It's weird how his supporters believe he's a functioning adult looking out for their interests.

Monday, May 25, 2020! 20 more days and the coronavirus will be mostly behind us. Thank you Mike Pence for letting us know that this will be behind us in less than three weeks. Thank you Jared Kushner for making the White House response to the pandemic a success. And thank you Donald Trump! You have persevered when the press has treated you worse than Abraham Lincoln!

And thank you Ivanka for agreeing to join the White House panel that will be in charge of reopening the United States! Happy days are going to be here again! As Jared said we are going to be really rocking again by July!

Cut them some slack, they're trying really hard to find a treatment. Sunshine up the ass is probably better than the injection of disinfectants. Look at the brightside. :)

Nothing makes things cleaner and brighter than bleach. Bleach enemas will work. Squeeze real hard and it gets all the way down into the lungs.

Per the dynamic duo of Pense and Trump.

One more week and Covid-19 is largely behind us! With or without a vaccine we are back!

Yeah that proved prophetic - army of people out where I live this sat afternoon - little to no social distancing, but lots of masks.

I will channel CoH here:

Dumb. Did Pence specifically say which Memorial Day? When someone tells you that they will see you on Sunday, don't you normally ask 'which Sunday?'

TDS strikes again.

We're all getting this. You can get 'er done 'Merica style and go back to living, or you can stay indoors and have it take 2 years like CA and KY are doing. Eff that.

Stop being afraid.

From Time magazine:
There Are Sensible Ways to Reopen a Country. Then There’s America’s Approach

It’s equally difficult to imagine Trump, with his disregard for science, embracing an incremental, data-driven approach to reopening. As Germany’s Merkel, a trained scientist, drew praise for her clear-eyed explanations for social distancing, Trump was publicly suggesting Americans might inject disinfectant.

From the outside, what's going on is just a chaotic clusterfeck. There is just no strategy. Hopping from one idea to another excuse. Politics is taking precedence rather than medical expertise and science.

There is just no excuse for this when there are obvious strategies to be engaged and executed. Instead, Trump in all his wisdom decided to open up the political vortex and have idiots running around shouting about their rights etc when really, people should just get serious and hunker down, man-up and deal with it properly.

Instead its a half-cooked approach that was never given enough time to see its fruits and now you want to open up. Its all tactical.

I hope that in all that fog of bullshit that people don't forget what happened and how it happened a few months down the road. (This is the benefit of not living in the middle of the crapstorm that's swirling around every day for you guys. You remember the markers and the moments easier.)

All moot now. Have to hope Marvin’s post about a third-ish reduction via heat/humidity is accurate, coupled with masks and washing hands keeps the hospitals from being overwhelmed, because Memorial Day is right around the corner and nobody’s going back to lockdowns.

I'm not afraid. Why are you so afraid to stay indoors? We've been at it and still "living" for two months. I guess folks in Kentucky aren't very tough.

You are too critical of our president.

You ought to know by now that our president knows ChinaVirus better than the scientists, who specialize in infectious diseases, better than virus experts like Dr. Fauci, who is regarded as one of the world's leading experts in this area.

You ought to be proud and feel safe that we have such esteemed president at the helm. If not for him, our casualty number may be in many millions, not just mere 1.5 million!

Shame on you!
