Meanwhile Penix breaks a record

IU is missing having a QB like Penix as he could function with a poor OL due to his quick release. IU needs one like him now, I think Williams is like him with a strong arm and quick release. I hope he can win the QB role next season as I don't want to go through another year like this year with Bazelak.

I agree completely. Go back to ,the Bowl Game with Mississippi 2 years ago and bring everything forward. Penix was hurt late in the year missed the last couple of games and the Bowl game and went through his operation. The Coaching staff was careful with Him on practice reps and contact. We put all our chips in the pot betting on Him. and We opened the season at Iowa. Penix looked like He was unprepared. rusty, and unable to play at that speed. A couple more games and once again He is injured for the year. And now We are stuck with Tuttle and a walk on.
My point is this spiral started in January 2021 after the Bowl Game, and has continued to this date. The Coaching Staff has no idea how to stop it, and is only re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and changing the window dressing. This has been a totally missed opportunity.

IMO Sheridan’s offense hurt MP more than the OL. Didn’t develop him at all. Wasn’t a cerebral offense at all either.

But it’s nice to see so many pining for him now after so many wanted him out last year.

Crazy how much less "brittle" Penix is with an offensive line. Also, check out MP's stats in 2019 and 2022 with CKDB vs. 2020 and 2021 without. They're unbelievably striking.

I said prior to the bowl game that the bowl game was a must win to continue the momentum and show that the season was not a fluke. IU acted like the game was beneath them and got beat by a lousy Ole Miss team. It's been all downhill since.
