... with apologies to Oscar Hammerstein III, but I really think I'm all in with Coach KW. I know this may sound a bit ludicrous, but I'd like to see Fred give Coach a substantial raise and a major boost in coordinator salaries, with the condition that we bring in a better defensive staff that can raise the level of play to match the offense. We could very conceivably be 9-1 (if you view the injuries to Nate and Jordan as unavoidable as regards the loss to PSU) with just one or two more defensive stops per game. We have not been blown out (the MSU final score not withstanding) and have been extremely competitive with a lower talent level than the other B1G East Division teams we have faced, save RU. With an infusion of cash for recruiting and coordinator salaries, I feel we are on the path toward a sustainable, winning model which will carry over for years to come. At least that is my gut feeling, especially having played at IU when we knew we were going to get our asses majorly kicked every time we entered the Horseshoe or the Big House. I don't feel that way after this season....at least so far. The next two weeks will tell us a great deal. Go get 'em, Hoosiers.
