Masterful job....

I would say Crean has done a decent job

with what he has. He also touched on the issue that most have here about taking a player out when he is hot. The other commentator asked why that is and Dan said that he has no idea.

I respect him a lot for doing so. It needs to be said and who knows maybe saying so in front of a national audience will make Crean give it thought. Doubtful, but maybe.

Problem is what he has could be so much better.

If he didn't whiff on some guys we desperately needed (or ran another one out of town because he wasn't getting the playing time he should've been getting).

masterful is an oversell but

I thought we had no chance at an NCAA tourney and it looks like we will. So he deserves credit for that.

Re: Problem is what he has could be so much better.

I hope you're not talking about Luke Fischer. If you've followed his performance in conference play, you also know he has been struggling and his minutes have gone down accordingly. The Big East is not what it once was and
Fischer's so-called promise has not come to the front at Marquette. In a word or two, he's kind of soft.

Point taken. Still doesn't excuse having to get two projects

in April (meaning the month, not the player, even though he qualifies in this conversation) because you left yourself so woefully thin up front.

Even if Fischer is soft, is he worse than what we got?

If he is soft why did TC recruit him?

I always crack up when I read disparaging remarks regarding players that leave..JH was a head case, AE wasn't big ten caliber, LF is soft, RA was selfish, and its almos always from TC supporters..the funny thing is them knocking those players is actually shining a negative light on TC.

If they were so much trouble why recruit them in the first place?

And if LF is soft, does that mean we have to stop using his transfer as an excuse for our post troubles?

because, almost exclusively...

You recruit based on potential, and with fairly limited information. Some players buy in and develop, some (fewer) don't buy in and still develop, and some don't buy in and don't develop. Some leave the team and some stay. You can use certain markers (grades, family, winning, etc) as ways to focus your recruiting but these are young kids and it's an imperfect science.

And LF is not soft IMO. He would have been huge for us this year.

Re: because, almost exclusively...

I also heard Don Fischer on his show before Wisconsin and he said all is well with IU. I know he has to be a homer but wow talk about lowered expectations.

TC must be a poor judge of potential compared to the average coach

He has his hits but his miss rate at IU is well above the national average.......going by your, if they leave there must be something wrong with them, because lord knows that it couldn't be TCs fault, it has to be on the players
