Should be sold out today at that pace. A couple observations-
Looking at the map, there are two rows of unsold seats in 101 and 102 while almost all the seats above that are gone. Knowing that OSU gave some tickets back, it looks like IU fans would rather sit in the worst seat in the house rather than drop down 10 rows and sit next to OSU fans.
It's great that we're still selling students tickets for $10 but will it really make much of a difference? Any student that buys basketball tickets also gets football tickets. I'd bet that 99% of the students interested in the game already have tickets. We're probably talking about a couple dozen that don't. I'm also willing to bet that the south end of the east side is not full for the game. It's blocked off for students, but if we don't have 12K of them show up, that section will be empty. I hope they do.
It's telling that parking sold out well before tickets. It's also telling that fans (where do I park!?, where do I park!?) and administration (extra parking staff, traffic control, ticket takers, ushers, etc.) are freaking out about a crowd that is still significantly less than an average Big Ten crowd. Hopefully, sellouts become common before long and everyone gets the hang of this college football thing.
Speaking of parking, enterprising businesses and yard owners near the stadium could make some cash parking people like you see at every sporting event anywhere but Bloomington. But, since both IU and Bloomington suck at football games, they won't and traffic will be a nightmare with everyone either driving all the way to the stadium expecting to get a spot in an already full lot or oblivious to the fact that there's a sold out football game going on and clogging up the bypass trying to get to Marsh. Get there early and avoid the mess.
Anyway, I'll enjoy the beautiful fall weather and the atmosphere and hope that days like this Saturday are soon nothing out of the ordinary.
