I had been thinking prior to yesterday that IU could win 8 games next year. I thought if they got a decent replacement for Sudfeld, which they apparently did in Lagow, it could easily be a 8+ win type of season. It still might be.
Yesterday's performance changed my mind. I simply don't see that many truly impact players on defense. I know there will be two new comers in the secondary, Jayme Thompson and Wesley Green. Both of these kids were high level high school recruits but can they provide a big enough difference to a defense that just let Duke have its way??
I think we will win 6 games next year, I just don't buy the talk that this defense will be appreciably better.
Now if we sign some upper end recruits on that side of the ball, things can change quickly. Coaching needs to get much better too. Watch how much Pat Fitzgerald gets out of the talent he gets, it's amazing. KW needs to start maximizing his talent and take a cue from the Northwestern boss...
