I’ve been enjoying watching these lately while in isolation. I generally use Netflix and Prime.

The list of movies I’ve seen in the past and lately they come to mind are:

The Last Waltz (my favorite)
Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads
Woodstock
Gimme Shelter - Stones
Rattle and Hum
Monterey Pop
No Direction Home - Dylan
Dig! - Dandy Warhols
Devil and Daniel Johnston
End of the Century - Ramones
Elvis in ‘68
Rock N Roll Hall 25th anniversary concert at Madison square garden
Also they recent doc about the backup singers was great (can’t recall the name)
I’m sure I’m missing some

Give me some homework boys!

What immediately comes to mind on my to do list are:

Live at Pompeii - Who or Pink Floyd (can’t remember which band)
I’m not trying to break your heart- Wilco
Filth and fury - Sex Pistols

You've probably seen this . . . but it's worth watching . . . and only 22 minutes.

I saw Documentaries several years ago on The Funk Brothers backup Band from Motown, and The Wrecking Crew out of Los Angeles, that really destroyed the Concept of Back Up Bands and Studio Musicians, because they weren't tied to one Band or Label and were in demand to do everything in the 60's and 70's. I recall that one of these was on PBS, but I can't remember where I saw the other one.

If you're thinking of the movie that starred Darlene Love (among others) that portrayed life as a Backup singer, that is 20 Feet From Stardom...

If you want to see a brilliant Kennedy Center Honors intro- I suggest the Jon Stewart intro of Springsteen (from 2009). It's hilarious and you get to see reactions from pretty cool people like the Obamas, for example

If you're a Springsteen fan (no idea) and if you've never seen Live In Barcelona, then I highly recommend it. Youtube charges to watch the actual DVD, but if you link to Bruce's youtube channel via The Rising (below) you are in his playlist of videos from the film, and they will play in sequence. It's youtube,so there are ads, but the flow isn't bad...

Since Neil Peart recently died, you should check out Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage, even if you're not a Rush fan. You probably always thought these guys were just dorks. Turns out you were right all along.
