Locker room chasm

That's been obvious all year....this team doesn't like playing together.

Can't wait until one-and-done is gone all together in a couple years. Like Vonleh, Romeo has likely set this program back, not forward. Would have rather his ship gone to another 4 year player, in hindsight.

He's a good player and seems like a good kid....but it's like working on a team at work when you know one person has already been hand-picked to be the next in upper mgmt and are just there for a temp rotation.

You know you aren't all in it together.

It's fine (great) to add these level players to an already established culture/unit. But does no good at this stage of the game.

7 losses in a row, 8 after tomorrow, that can only happen once in a coach's career at IU. Whatever the reason, doesn't matter. It can't happen next year.

The assembly call this week had some really interesting on court off court numbers this year for our main dudes on a total point per possession.

For example our defensive ppp when Morgan is on the court is (I'm making this up because I don't remember) .88. It's .89 when he's off the court.

Meaning the defense doesn't really change much when he plays or sits.

Offensively it was something like 1.15 with him on the court and .95 when he's off the court. Again I can't remember the actual numbers but it was a huge impact. Basically saying we are a much better offensive team when he plays vs when he sits.

I know...duh.

Very surprising was that offensively we score at the same rate (and this is using all season games) when Romeo plays or sits.

However our defensive ppp goes up from .80 when he sits to .92. which is a decent jump.

If you believe those numbers as law, we gain very little offensively when Romeo plays vs sits but we lose much more defensively when he plays vs sits.

Again this was data from the Assembly Call podcast this past Thursday.

This has to be the dumbest analysis of why Indiana sucks this year. It’s Romeos fault, unreal. Don’t tell that to Syracuse which won a banner with Carmelo one and done. Wow these guys must be hoping to get on Archie’s good side, stupid just stupid. If our players can’t realize that compared to Romeo they are just average well screw them, bunch of pampered babies yea you Justene “i hope you transfer” Smith!

I didn't read it as "it's Romeo's fault" at all. Greenberg was just saying it was just a reality of college basketball and gave other examples like Fultz and Simmons. Your example of Anthony is a good counter, but it seems like there have been more going the other way.

You're comparing Carmelo's frosh year to Romeo, or to him, period? Romeo is nowhere close to Carmelo now or coming out of HS. What about his teammates and the respective coaching staffs?

I think you guys are missing the point. Maybe it's how the other guys are playing around him on the offensive end when he's on the court.
