I think it's just struggling to score runs when runners are in scoring position. I think Indiana is now 1-22 with runners in scoring position throughout the weekend? Pair that with about seven errors and it makes it challenging to win baseball games.

Jeff Mercer is facing the first adversity of his tenure and its time for him to put up or shut up.

Right now he has a team that has been the most consistent in the conference for 14 years playing like little leaguers. Between the errors and the poor fundamental play with runners in scoring position, we have not seen IU baseball like this since at least 07 before Tracy Smith got it going.

I don't think it was a bad hire, but the last two successful Wright State coaches at PSU and UCF have been outright failures, and everyone wins big at Wright State including the coach who replaced Mercer.

Its way to early to say to much, but Mercer has a responsibility to fix a very talented team that is making basic mistakes or we need a different coach who can. We have worked so hard last 15 years to turn our baseball program from nothing into the class of the Big Ten, and I don't want to see Mercer ruin it because he cannot teach team to correctly execute the minimum basics to be a successful team.

At one point during our big start to the season, we were #2 in fielding in the B1G; however, after committing 8 errors over the weekend, with four errors in game 2, who knows where we stand right now. The pitching hasn't been that bad, but the lack of clutch hitting and poor fielding is killing us, and is not giving the pitching staff much of a chance. We have a three-game series at home against Illinois next weekend, and while they are not bad, they are also not real good either, so far. If we falter against that team, we are in deep kimchi.

Not real sure what deep kimchi is, but it sure feels like we might be in the neighborhood.
