Bateman lined out to third base and Bertrand struck out swinging. Raabe then reached base on a throwing error by SS Espalin that sailed high. However, Bierman struck out Stanke swinging to end the frame.

B1: Mid-Inning Update

Ashley and Toetz were both hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Richardson then singled to right field and Ashley scored to give Indiana a 1-0 lead. Toetz advanced to third on the single to put runners on the corners. Richardson then stole second to put runners on second and third with no out. Barr then reached on a fielding error by Minnesota SS Berghammer that went out of play. Toetz scored from third and because it went out of play, Richardson also scored to make it a 3-0 game.

Toetz would have scored from third base regardless due to the fielder's choice, but Richardson scored due to the error. Van Pelt then grounded out to second base and Barr moved to third. Next up to bat, Colopy doubled to the right-center gap and Barr scored to extend the lead to 4-0. Fougerousse flied out to right field and Colopy tagged up, moving to third. Hopkins then doubled down the left-field line and Colopy scored to extend the lead to 5-0.

Espalin then drew a two-out walk to put runners on first and second. Indiana is back to the top of the order.

Richardson drew a leadoff walk and moved to third after Barr singled through the right side. Van Pelt then was walked to load up the bases. Colopy then drew an RBI walk and Richardson scored to make it a 6-0 game. Fougerousse struck out swinging, but Hopkins doubled down the left-field line and Barr and Van Pelt scored to extend the lead to 8-0. Colopy moved to third on the double to put runners on second and third. Espalin then struck out swinging for the second out of the inning and Ashley drew a walk to load up the bases.

Toetz singled to right-center and Hopkins and Colopy scored to extend the lead to 10-0. Ashley advanced to second base on the single to put runners on first and second. Richardson then hit a three-run home run to right field to extend the lead to 13-0. Barr then flied out to right-center to end the inning.

Ashley struck out looking and then pinch hitter Ethan Vercrumba singled up the middle to load up the bases. Pinch hitter Jordan Fucci then drew an RBI walk to extend the lead to 19-1. Barr struck out looking, but Schank hit a fly ball down the left-field line and Minnesota LF Wilhite could not hang on to the ball. Schank pulled into second base with a two-out bases-clearing double to extend the lead to 22-1. Jessee then singled to right-center and Schank scored to make it a 23-1 ballgame. Fougerousse then struck out swinging to end the inning.

Hopkins reached on a throwing error by Minnesota shortstop Berghammer. Espalin struck out swinging and Ashley struck out looking. Houston then singled to shortstop and Hopkins moved to third to put runners on the corners with two outs. Murrison grounded out to second base to end the inning.

Wassel drew a leadoff walk and then pinch hitter Elliott struck out swinging. Pinch hitter Stahl then grounded out to second base and pinch-runner for Wassel, Jamroziak moved to second. Pinch hitter Knowles then drew a two-out walk to put runners on first and second. Bertrand then struck out looking to end the game.

Indiana sweeps Minnesota and wins the series finale 23-1.
 
It's probably safe to say that this may be the worst team in the Gophers' modern history. Going into a series like this, I had just a very small concern that we may just end up blowing one of these games, but not to be. In the 5-game series this season with them, we have outscored them 52 to 8. I guess the coach needs to make them run some extra laps for giving up that one run today. As I post this, Michigan is trailing Rutgers, 3-2, in the 8th, and Neb and MSU are tied 6-6 in the 9th. There's a big chance to move up into 2nd place if the Rutgers score holds up.
 
A fun game to listen to ... on a gorgeous day. Makes me miss watching games at the Bart all that much more. Wait till next year!
