For the record, I didn't want to add to the negative thread about (no more W's) - especially since there was no attempt on the poster's part to establish the basis for the opinion.

Looking through the Hoosier's remaining games, there is no question IU is in the toughest B10 division, and W's will be difficult. Next weekend will be the start of the Bowl-yard stand effort, and, win or lose, how the Hoosier's play will help set the bar for the rest of the season. OSU should win, they are supposed to win, and it will be very tough to beat them, but it would be good to see continued ability to score (especially against a good defense like the Buckeye's) along with improvement on IU's D as well.

I don't want to limit IU's chances for Wins by predicting losses, but the following is my list of most likely Win's while hoping for a couple more W's in the mix as well.

Oct. 3, 2015 Ohio State - Great chance at Home to extend trending (W or L)
Oct. 10, 2015 at Penn State Tough Away game, but potential for Win No. 3
Oct. 17, 2015 Rutgers - Home W for the Hoosiers
Oct. 24, 2015 at Michigan State - Tough battle vs No. 2 Spartans in E. Lansing
Nov. 7, 2015 Iowa - Tough out as well but opportunity to get W No. 3
Nov. 14, 2015 Michigan Home game and UM not at peak level this season
Nov. 21, 2015 at Maryland Away game otherwise would list as W No. 3
Nov. 28, 2015 at Purdue Tough Away game, but W for the Hoosiers

Qualified as only a fan's view, I think the chances are good for a 6 Win season, provided the progress continues and the team morale stays high. We will be predicted to lose some games, but there are 2 pretty good chances to win, and, several other games where the potential is there to pull out a W. The offense has good balance so far this season (run and pass) and the defense shows signs of improvement. Can the staff hold this team together? All the motivation is there. My biggest key for continued success this season - the O-line needs to protect the 6'6" QB so he can continue doing his thing; we aren't very deep at the position.

Riffing on the format here...just another unqualified fan's view. ;)

Oct. 3, 2015 Ohio State -
Not a strong #1. If we can keep it close in the 1st half, make adjustments and have a (typical) strong 3rd quarter...could be another shootout in Memorial Stadium.
Oct. 10, 2015 at Penn State I have not seen PSU this year...but feel like this can be a W as well.
Oct. 17, 2015 Rutgers - This is a huge game for us...we need to come in and play like we expect to win, execute and win.
Oct. 24, 2015 at Michigan State - Oddly, I feel better about our chances for an upset with OSU.
Nov. 7, 2015 Iowa - I feel like IU, historically, give Iowa a run for its money. I think we can get a W...
Nov. 14, 2015 Michigan I think Harbaugh will have the wolverines playing at a pretty high level. We're going to need to play at a very high level to get a W here. To your point...this is the year to do it AND if we're rolling into this game with 2 or 3 wins (yes; my glasses are of the rose colored variety)...we might have that kind of moho
Nov. 21, 2015 at Maryland I believe this is a W...I believe the team (even if we're rolling in with 1 or 2 wins from oct. 3 forward) is ready to play away games.
Nov. 28, 2015 at Purdue I think this is win 2 or 3; maybe 4.

Go Hoosiers!

It's going to be interesting to see how we do from here on out. We still haven't played our best game for sure. Winnable games include Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, Maryland, and Purdue. I don't see much of a chance against Michigan State or OSU, even though they aren't as good as many think at #1. Michigan is unlikely, but I could see that being close as well.

I think we bowl, but can we really take a giant step and get more than 6 wins?

I think IU will struggle with OSU and MSU because I'm not confident that IU's D can compete at that level yet. A little too young, not quite physical enough. They can hand around for awhile, but I don't think they have the horses to win. But they can play with and beat anyone else on the schedule.

I think we will get to 6 wins.
We need to take care of the games where I think we are likely to win (Rutgers and Purdue) and find a way to win 1-2 of the 5/50 games and we will have a fine season.

Here is how I would rank them.
  1. Hope to be competitive but unlikely to win: MSU,OSU, Michigan
  2. 50/50 games include: Penn State, Iowa, Maryland
  3. Likely to win: Purdue, Rutgers

I think people are over rating Maryland and under rating Rutgers. Purdue showed well last week against BGSU so don't discount them.

The bottom line is that it comes down to two things. Toughness and health with staying healthy being the most important.

Time will tell but, I think we win 7-8 games.

Agree - re: toughness and staying injury-free. I don't think IU has any 'easy' wins - even though I identified Rutgers and Purdue as the most likely wins. Maryland is only 2-2 and maybe they should be added to increase to 3 the teams IU is most likely to earn a W. Both Maryland and Purdue are away games as I recall so that is one strike against the W. I am hoping for a fiery battle againsst the Buckeyes to extend the momentium (W or L). It won't be an easy clim to 6+ wins.

The worst possible scenario for this team is for them to ever think they have a win until the game is over. They have shown that the talent level is better than in recent memory but other than a few programs, parity reigns in NCAA Division I football. They can beat anyone left on their schedule and they can lose to any of them as well. Players and coaches staying focused on each individual play (understanding the game situation) is absolutely a must. Can't take any plays off; can't take anything for granted.

As a lifelong IU Football, Chicago Cubs and Indiana Pacers fan, I am cautiously optimistic we are to the corner, now we just might turn it. Go Hoosiers!
