He has the NBA waiting for him. Hopefully we can sell him on top 5 pick next year, he might have climbed to late 1st rounder already.

He is my favorite player by far on this team, his development is so fun to watch.

He has at least one more season left in him, IMO. Needs to get bet bigger, shoot better, and still can't handle the ball. His athleticism will intrigue some teams, but the NBA draft is full of athletic freaks that are more "ready" at this point. We could be really damn good next season.

Don't you like the team better without him?

Good times.

Troy is the man.

Re: just show him this, he'll be back

If I recall victor started his Jr season a late first rounder and kept moving up. If Williams continues the double doubles there's a very good chance he may leave. Crean better acknowledge this now and have a plan in place if he leaves.

IU is already over signed by 2 for next year and both play Troy's position.

Good point, but I don't see Williams comparing to Victor at this point

Victor was absolutely a better all-around player in his last year at IU.

Now, if Williams stays one more year AND works incredibly hard, the sky is the limit for the kid. But there are plenty of kids who have fit that description and never panned out in the League. We'll see....hopefully he can work on those parts of his game that need real improvement.

We all know he is not ready but neither was noah v. I dont think cody was ready either but the kids dont care what we think. If an agent tells them they are thats often all they need.

If Williams is a first round pick this year, he should go. Guaranteed money is something that is tough to pass up. Look at Levert. He could have been a Top 15 type pick this year. Now he's out for the season. Gotta strike while the iron is hot. And I'm not saying Williams is 100% going to be a first rounder, but he's got a shot at it this year especially if he keeps playing like he has been.

Lavert was top 15? Did not know that. Don't forget Mitch McGary not going when he could have. Huge mistake for mcgary.

Crean has recruited two forwards for the 2015/16 season. I think he already knows the chances of Williams leaving. If Max puts on 25 lbs of muscle, we'll be in great shape, not because we lost a player, but rather there's other players, any one of which will be the next one up.

It's probably a reasonable...

comparison, sophomore year for one to the sophomore year of the other. Both has/had athletic skills that were more advanced than was their mental approach to the game. In other words, both had/have feet faster than their ability to process the information to react immediately on the fly.

Olidipo has been helped by his current coaches getting away from thinking he would fit as a point guard. He's more totally equipped to be a #2 and is now properly pegged as such.

The question remains where Williams will best fit, offensively as well as defensively, at the next level. A lot probably depends on where the people at the next level feel that can be best accomplished. He'll get feedback on all of that before he would need to declare.

Re: It's probably a reasonable...

Yes crean has two frosh coming in but it would be a huge loss. They are not top 15 players who are going to come in and start from day one. It would be a big blow and crean really would need to find someone who could help right away.

Williams was not a top-15 either. What you would lose with Williams leaving is somewhat offset by the added year of experience from those returning, including and hopefully, Davis.

Re: It's probably a reasonable...

There is no magic in the player ratings after you get past the first 10 or so, and there is usually a mistake or two made in rating the first 10. Being recruited by one of the top 3-4 schools can move a kid up dramatically in the ratings.

If you've seen the clips on Morgan, it appears he has the outside game that Troy lacks. He's certainly not as flashy, however Crean won't have to work through that with Morgan as he has with Williams. Morgan appears to be fundamentally sound as a high school senior.

Regardless, we may not be starting any freshmen in 2015/16 unless we get a very good big, capable, at least, of drawing a double-team in the key.

Why is it that whenever a Hoosier plays fairly well ...

... that we assume "HE'S GOING PRO!!"?

We're not the NBA/Kentsucky farm system. There are a TON of players with Troy's skill set and athleticism ... if not in college basketball, then surely in the D-League.

Now, NEXT year, IF Troy develops a consistently reliable mid-range jumper AND gets a lot better on defense AND gets stronger, then I can see him not coming back for his senior year.
