Leal Offered by IU

I expect this puts pressure on Anderson to really step up. With Morton still being the primary target for the 2020 class, it wouldn’t be out of the question to see IU sign 3 guards.
I hope so.

One of the big issues we had with injuries last year - besides depth on game day - was guys not being pushed to compete for playing time. Hopefully Damezi makes big strides this offseason and comes ready to compete for minutes.

Says the 4 other B10 programs who have offered him...
I wasnt too impressed with him but that was just 1 game I watched. He barely got into double figures. I dont see him making an immediate impact but could be solid in sophmore or junior year but what do I know

He is 6’3 and doesn’t shoot the 3 well or shoot well from the line.

Looks like he’s going after some Dayton types to get Archies’s Hoosiers up and going...

Since when is IU above offering a top 100 player? Or someone like Galloway? Galloway has offers from MSU and Purdue, you know the two teams who split the conference tittle last year? The only two teams who’ve won a share of the title since 2017? This is why everyone laughs at your program.

Yeah, probably one of these guys would be enough though...I hope we get one of them and they are good for IU.

Franklin, Leal, Galloway, Harris - seems like abt 3 of them are abt the same player...

Disagree.

My comparison for Morton is Ty Jerome. He's easily the best out of the 4. Can play point but can also play off the ball as a shooter and has superior ball-handling skills to the other 3.

Franklin is the most athletic and a slashing type guard. He compares to Al Durham.

Leal is a shooter but doesn't have the ball skills to play point. Not an elite athlete but still good enough to play in the B10.

Galloway is likely a lesser athletic version of Franklin. More of a slasher type. Those are the only two as I see comparable in terms of what role they can give IU.

Still think you can add Galloway/Leal/Morton and be fine as it likely pushes Anderson out. Galloway may be a redshirt candidate

A guard rotation for 2020 (assuming all 3 commit would look like this):

Phinisee
Morton
Durham

with Franklin/Leal/Anderson coming off the bench. Galloway would redshirt if Anderson doesn't transfer.

Pretty good combination of experience/athleticism/jump shooters if you ask me.

I’d have to say, you are right on this. Some IU fans want us to have a Duke or Kentucky recruiting class and think that’s the answer to turning it around.

I'd so much rather see IU be a program that builds a culture and develops players than be the "cool" place where shoe guys go. As much as I hate to say it, I respected the hell out of the teams Purdue and Virginia had this season. Their players are program guys who play hard and only care about winning.

Galloway was quoted as saying the most important thing to him is being with a group of guys who play hard and value winning. That's the kind of kid I want to see in an IU jersey.

I'm not opposed to a OAD - if they're the right fit and buy into the program. Otherwise, the talent could likely not overcome the distraction.

Well there you go...
I'd take Leal..over Galloway..
Leal and Morton would be a good two pack.
But Leal and Galloway aren't as good as Franklin..
Hopefully more of a home run in either Lander or Furst in 2021..

That’s a great Attitude but the kid just isn’t very good.

If the kid "just isn't very good," why does he have offers from Maryland, Stanford, Northwestern, Iowa, Butler, Xavier, and Indiana? I don't think any of those programs would have offered if he "just isn't very good."

Offers don’t mean they are recruiting a kid. I will gladly eat crow if he turn into a player but a lot of those teams have cooled on him.

What? If you offer a kid a scholarship it most definitely means you are recruiting him. You can recruit someone as in showing interest but not extending a scholarship offer, but if you offer player it not only means you're recruiting him, you want him to play for your program. What on earth?

And what teams have cooled on Leal? He just set up official visits to Stanford and Northwestern, and the current national champions are now just starting to express interest.

Not in today’s recruiting world, teams offer to get in the game early on a kid. Heck iu offered Vijay Blackmon and he ended up going NAIA.
