I haven't seen anything suggesting anyone was asked to leave. It's possible but seems most, if not all, decided they were leaving regardless.

Example: Gabe Cupps came in and due to injuries played significant minutes as a freshman. This season he was hurt and didn't play. He was in the portal ASAP. I'm not sure CDD had a chance to ask him to stay or leave.

The majority of these kids are not about the program. They used to be about the program and then they were all about the coach. Now it's about the money for the vast majority. Unfortunately, the fans are stuck with this monstrosity of a system where you have to buy then re-buy a player season to season.

Prediction: This system is unsustainable and either changes or blows up. Fans are not going to support this longterm.

I'm not sure what major changes can be made, since the portal, transfers with no penalty, and NIL are all mandated by court order, not by voluntary NCAA policy. They can make tweeks, I assume, in things like the dates when the portal opens. But wholesale changes would require successful legal appeals.

At some point NIL sponsors will have to start questioning whether 18 y/o kids out of high school or one year on a college team are worth 7 figures as basketball players. Used to have to go to the NBA to make that kind of money. 90% of these kids will never sniff the NBA.
