Kevin Wilson said he needs time before he can announce someone as his quarterback.
"We just need time," Wilson said. "I just don't think it's right to anoint someone until they've earned it. You've got to earn the respect of the guys. It's not being coy. I've got some guys who have been in that program for three years busting their tail every day, and one of them (Zander Diamont) didn't even practice in the spring."
Zander Diamont had "an awesome summer." But Richard Lagow had a great one, too.
Wilson didn't rule out playing multiple quarterbacks, either...
"I don't want to drag it out," he said. "Maybe we play a couple. I know we'll play more than one."
Wilson said he will build an offense around whoever they choose to be the starter. The good thing is, he said, they don't need to be team leaders. He's got other guys for that. He wants them focusing on quarterback.
"It's the ability to manage the offense and distribute the ball and the ability to have the command presence to talk with confidence," Wilson said. "Because the way he calls the play makes these guys feel good or not."
