I will be posting updates from the Kevin Wilson Radio Show tonight. It is not on the regular radio station I use so I had to find it with the Tune In app and found it a little later than usual. Because of that I missed the players tonight but will have updates from Coach Wilson.

Wilson said the MSU game was disappointing because he felt they got sloppy at the end. He was proud of the way they battled and went toe-to-toe with a good team but he said his guys need to start playing a full 60 minutes and start getting wins. He said they have had a great open week and they are looking forward to playing Iowa.

Wilson said that he thinks they are a very good practice team and they approach work with a lot of energy and they just need to carry it over to the field with wins. Wilson said they have some great seniors and he wants them to end their careers on a high note.

Wilson is asked about the bye week and what it looks like for the team. Wilson said it changes every year depending on when the bye week falls. He said you don't want a bye week too early or too late. He said this year he thinks it feel at the right time. He said it was good for some of the younger players to get a break and refresh. Wilson said they did a lot of recruiting last week. He said they are allowed 42 recruiting days and they used 30 of them last week. They were able to hit a lot of different areas to check out players. He said when they came back Sunday they went at it hard but did not practice long.

Wilson is asked about the team vibe from week 4 to now and he doesn't think it has changed. Wilson thinks the vibe has been good. He thinks the only stale game they played was at PSU and at the end of Rutgers. He likes the mindset they have had and he thinks they have played well against some good teams. Wilson said he loves the way his team practices.

Wilson is asked about tweaks on the offensive side of the ball and Wilson said you just do what you do and play to your strengths. He said they want to run the ball with Howard but Iowa is tough to run on. He said he likes how the receivers are coming along and he thinks the young guys have really made a lot of progress.

Wilson said Iowa is a team that runs the ball and stops the run. They play good at the line of scrimmage. Wilson said they have a QB that manages things well. Wilson said he is very good friends with Iowa D.C. Phil Parker.

Wilson said earlier in the season all three phases of the IU team were complimenting each other but in the last four weeks that hasn't been the case. He said Iowa does a great job of having the offense, defense and special teams all working together.

Wilson is asked about Thanksgiving at the Wilson house and Wilson said in high school if they were good enough to practice on Thanksgiving that meant they had a good season. He said with it being Bucket Week they stay until Thursday around noon and then the players get to leave and they have to be back around noon the next day. He said as a football coach it is great thing to have a game that week.

Wilson is asked about the biggest downfall for the team in the 4th quarter and what are they doing to fix it. He said they are trying to make their team practice with more energy at the end to make it seem like the 4th quarter. He doesn't think it is physical because he thinks they are fine as far as their conditioning. He said good teams play their best at the end and they need to start doing that.

Wilson is asked what his favorite uniform combination and he said they let the kids choose. He said all the primetime TV games have really helped them with their branding. He said they have something a little different this week.

Wilson is asked about his funnies story on the recruiting trail and he isn't sure. He said that he likes to go into people's homes because he likes interacting with families and breaking bread.

Wilson is asked about the team motto and he said their daily motto is constant, continued improvement to build a winning team.

Wilson is asked about his favorite O-lineman that he has coached. He said Dan Feeney is up there and so is Davin Joseph from Oklahoma. He said current volunteer IU coach Brody Eldridge is probably one of his favorites because of how good he was. He mentions how great of a blocker Eldridge was. He said he is a good role model for their team. He said Eldridge and Feeney are two of the toughest he has ever had.

Wilson is asked about what coaches were guys he looked up to and he said when it comes to coaches Randy Walker and Bob Stoops were great role models for how to be a coach and make it a family atmosphere. He said Coach Hep was awesome. He said when they were at Miami (OH) together as coordinators they were very competitive every day in practice but it was never personal but they always knew who won. Wilson said he and Hep played golf together around 200 times in 9 years at Miami and they never kept score but they always knew who won. Wilson also said that Coach Hep was there the last time he had a hole-in-one. He said he loved spending time with Coach Hep.

Wilson said they are working this week on having all phases playing well and playing together for a full 60 minutes. Wilson said he hopes the fans show up and he feels like his team is going to play well against a good team. He said Coach Hep once said fans help win games and he hopes the fans come out and support the team.

Wilson said the health of the team is pretty good and they are about as good as they have been all year health wise. He said this time of the year everyone has some dings and nicks, but he thinks the coaches have done a good job of managing that.

That is it for this week.
