One of my favorite games ever attended, despite being row 16 in the balcony.
If you want just 1 good highlight, go to around 51:00 for Henderson's dunk.
That was the one we lost, and missed a ton of FTs?

No, we dominated them from start to finish. That was the one we lost, and missed a ton of FTs?
He meant 94-95.That was the one we lost, and missed a ton of FTs?
This is correct. IU shot 4-13 from the ft line in that game at the Hoosier dome during the regular season.IU and Kansas played a 4 year series in the early/mid 90s: once at (then) Hoosier Dome, once in KC, and once on each campus. Kansas won all except the '94-95 matchup above. They also knocked out the Cheaney/Graham team from the '93 NCAAs when Henderson was injured.
The " Bank One Classic" played every December at the Dome. It was Kentucky in every other year. This is correct. IU shot 4-13 from the ft line in that game at the Hoosier dome during the regular season.
Knight started playing what everyone calls a stretch 4 in 73-74. We need to go back in time to be “modern”Some observations...
1. RMK's offense had a lot of similar principles to the modern 5 out "read and react" offenses that are used in one form or another today. Hmmm, spread them out to create space, move bodies around purposefully to keep the defense of balance and to create advantages... The ball screen and iso crap we run too much of, needs to be scrapped today...and Woody needs to take a stroll down memory lane and implement something similar to RMK's offense.
2. While Woody has chosen not to implement much of any of RMK's offensive philosophies at IU...maybe guarding the 3 point line is something he learned from RMK? Half joking...but IU was horrendous early on in this game guarding some pretty basic screening action, leading to wide open threes. Looked like our current teams defense against outside shooting.
3. Man, Andre Patterson was so darn talented.
4. Man, Neil Reed was a very good PG.
5. Man, watching Evans and Henderson together was fun.
The closer you are to the basket the more likely you are going to make the shot. Movement makes it tougher to guard and a motion offense makes it tough to prepare for. Passing allows a team to find an open man. Patience and screening give a team good looks at the basket. Getting to the freethrow line gives you easy chances to score. Some observations...

Hart had a killer game! I was there too.

But there was no clock back then. That has dramatically changed offensives so RMK’s motion couldn’t just grind it out for the open look. But then he always had shooters.Knight started playing what everyone calls a stretch 4 in 73-74. We need to go back in time to be “modern”
Yes, the shot clock has been a detriment to men’s college basketball. It wasn’t like Knight was winning games 49-43. They were scoring. But there was no clock back then. (NCAA introduced a 45-second shot clock for the 1985-86 season; several conferences had experimented with it for the two seasons prior. It was reduced to 35 seconds in the 1993–94 season, and 30 seconds in the 2015–16 season).
He was great that day, but overall a real bust. He had the athleticism of Oladipo, but not the work ethic-on or off the court.Hart had a killer game! I was there too.
I was at that game, front row in the balcony. One of best bball experiences I've had.My all time favorite right here. $Bill never knew what hit him. Can we shoot the 3 like that tomorrow?
Yeah the clock is too short right now. I'd be happy to see it go away, but going back to 45 would make the game a little more interesting to watch. But too many young fans might start watching TikTok if there was that much time.Yes, the shot clock has been a detriment to men’s college basketball. It wasn’t like Knight was winning games 49-43. By the time a team gets the ball across half court there is roughly 23-24 seconds left on the clock. By the 12-13 second mark everyone is pointing for someone to set a ball screen. 10 seconds is not much time to run offense.
Yep! Definately coulda used him and Wilkerson ahd he not hurt his knee year before in Ncaa's. Herman could have been solid under Knight after a few years but bullshit happens. The year after, because of the Wilkerson injury and then assault on his gf, Herman leaving, and Hart as well left the backcourt in 95-96 as thing as I have ever seen it. Reed had his faults and not a crowd favorite, but he helped Evans get the Hoosiers by in the 95-96 year. I want Cupps to be so much like Neil when it comes to timely threes.Great game. Had great seats on the floor in SE corner by the visitor’s locker room. Was there early enough that day Roy signed a program for me as he was just sitting nearby watching the teams warm up. Of course haven’t seen that program since. Michael Hermon made his debut that day too, I believe.
We were very thin in the backcourt until Guyton arrived in fall of ‘96. I’m pretty sure Michael Lewis was the same year.Yep! 1991 NCAA's was a beat down: Kansas ended up going to the final game.IU and Kansas played a 4 year series in the early/mid 90s: once at (then) Hoosier Dome, once in KC, and once on each campus. You don’t wanna revisit a game where we kicked their ass?My mind is very foggy on those old KU games. Sometimes you just need to let the cobwebs of time slowly cover up the memories.
The Cheaney class years (and right after) were great teams, and plenty of awesome memories. Unfortunately Cal and Co never hung a banner and I know that KU was a thorn and big reason why. Like the Duke valentine game, all that’s left are old memories - I’m certainly not going to go to YouTube and revisit those games.
That I’ll do (when I have time), I just have been too busy. You don’t wanna revisit a game where we kicked their ass?
I forgot all about that one. Kansas really had our number in that era.1991 NCAA's was a beat down: Kansas ended up going to the final game.
