There have been rumors from the start of personal conduct issues unrelated to football. It's possible those caught up with him. It's the only thing that makes sense of the circumstances.

Agreed. IU is not disclosing the reason and Wilson doesn't want it revealed either. Saves IU half a mil a year for 4 years and Wilson gets to keep working.
