Most of the apolitical folks in Chicago called BS on this drama of a future hire for drama scam the same day it became public. Only the political race hustling folks swallowed this cray. You believe want you want to believe more than than what is factually true.Posters here jump to unfounded conclusions and that is aided by irresponsible mainstream media like that. I’ve said numerous times here that it’s best to wait fo a few days to see what the real story is. My advice has usually not been followed.
Why are people getting light sentences for faking hate crimes, rapes, etc.?
Beats me. I guess because they aren't violent crimes? I really know little about criminal law.
I get that and I'm not suggesting there should be an equivalency between actual rape or hate crimes and faking them. But, if the sentence is lenient, what's to deter future replications?
Particularly if you think the guy is still going to have a career. My hope was at least he'd be damaged goods and nobody would want to touch someone like that.

In our common sense Midwestern world…he s damaged goods for his fraudulent acts…but on the Coasts, he is a semi-hero for using his crafts to take on the “system”. He will be fine…Broadway, low budget films, politics in San Fran …etc. he has a sympathetic following. In a few years they will be selling his tears on the MSM. They will make a movie about him that rivals the Captain Dreyfus’ drama. It’s what we do in the USA …1000s of channels needing content. The Nazis and Mafia have about jumped the shark. The difference is that lefties thought these tweets were appropriate when they tweeted. Jussie’s story never added up but the lefties are way too invested in their narrative to get that.

Not entirely true. The Dave Chappelle stand-up bit on this sums up how most people felt after the details starting coming out.
I agree 100% politicians, etc. should not be issuing opinions until facts come out. Problem is that Twitter is a new medium that rewards impulsivity. You can argue they were rewarded in the game of politics. A game that everyone on both sides plays.
Hopefully some long overdue lessons are learned. I think the general public has learned a lot about how to digest Twitter over the last few f’ed up years. These BS tweets will not work if the public rejects them.
Also if you guys haven’t seen the Chappelle bit on this, it’s comedy gold. Came out around 2 years ago and another example as to why he’s the GOAT.

They tweets were from people who believed the New York Times story. The NYT was incredibly wrong. They deserve the blame. I don't know what Biden and Harris have said since it became clear that Smollett was a liar, but I don't care that much, either.
I was told there would be rioting if he was convicted.
