Really well for his size. He's not a very big or physical guy but he has a great feel for the long board. Jumps really well too, great win today

Rebounding is about want to
and desire and not just size because a smaller player who is willing to block out can negate size.

IU Scott, I agree with blocking out but James's rebounds are mostly longer boards where the quickest and smartest gets the ball. Like he knows better than the next guy where to be to get the ball

Rebounding is really about team. I can block out all night, and it means little if others on my team allow their men to go over me. That's why you hear Crean say he wants everyone going to the boards, in effect, if his frontline blocks out the opponents frontline, unattended guards can rebound as their men retreat, protecting against the break.
The "want to" you talk about is enhanced if the above is happening.
