On Moritz Sports, Steve talks with James Blackmon about the Marion Classic in December,as well as updates on the 3 MHS graduating seniors and the latest on James Blackmon Jr.

James Blackmon Jr.'s health and future are addressed at the 13:47 mark. Vague, with the possibility of Junior being interviewed tomorrow morning. Sounds like he's rehabbing at home rather than on campus this summer.

Two things that were interesting. The first is that it doesn't sound like JBJ will be in Btown this summer. Instead of rehabbing with the IU staff, it sounds like he won't be with his team and getting to know the new players. It was also interesting how his father sidestepped the question about JBJ returning this year. Maybe dad truly didn't want to speak for his son. The two items together makes me curious about his status for this upcoming season.

I would like to know if the decision to rehab at home has anything to do with his injury last year and if there was some dissatisfaction surrounding that process. I remember Crean saying JBJ would have to deal with soreness in his knee while he continued to recover. Did father and son disagree with the way the staff treated the injury? I am probably reading too much into it, but there seems to be more to the story.

Whenever a second injury occurs it will lead to speculation about which method, which Dr, which rehab style,etc....will lead to successful return.

My understanding is his most recent injury was a freak accident. Came down on it wrong in practice.

I wish JB Jr would be in Bloomington but to each their own. Troy worked out in Houston the last few couple of summers. Maybe Bloomington offers a few extra distractions (off the court)that Blackmon Sr wants to control as well. Either way. Wish him luck with rehab. Tough process for the kid.

It must be very difficult to deal with these injuries. For most of his life, JB jr has been an elite athlete and had his eye on playing professionally. It still may happen, but 3 injuries already, missing games, practice, development, etc. is not where he thought he would be. I hope he has complete recovery but I wonder if his body can take the pounding of college ball let alone the long schedule that the pros endure. I don't see how you can do better than the doctors, trainers, and facilities that IU has versus trying to do this at home.

I know his Mom is a doctor (gyno), but he might be better served being in Bloomington with all the resources there. However, plenty of distractions there too.

I sprained my ankle in high school and my dad's connections at our hospital allowed me to get treatment that I would not normally received. I went in several times a day for PT and an electric stimulation therapy. I was able to come back faster than I thought I would.

It is hard to imagine, but maybe he is getting better attention through his mom's contacts. Missing on bonding with the players and leading the new players off the court is unfortunate to miss. The key is for him to get healthy and not rush returning back to action.

Yes you are because anyone who questioned whether he would be back was told to be spreading false rumors or had an agenda, etc. The bottom line is he is not going anywhere and that is what we must all say. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater and knows nothing.

Good bye!!
No way any NBA team will draft any injured player whose future is an unknown. They draft on potential for sure. They have no idea what the ability will be of a recently seriously injured player. To many other healthy players with potential to draft an injured player.

Maybe he would like a little break away from Bloomington. Maybe the family might take a trip to Chicago for a week and stay in a fancy hotel and eat at fantastic restaurants.
