Indiana will face a regional rival this coming season in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Louisville will visit Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Nov. 30 as part of the annual series between Power 5 conferences. Tip times will be announced at a later date.

While the two schools are separated by only 90 miles of interstate, the Hoosiers and Cardinals have not met in women’s basketball since 2005. Louisville won that matchup, 72-67. IU holds a series edge, 7-3, and the home team has won every contest since 1972.

But the Cardinals are no pushover. Louisville finished No. 12 in the national polls last season and made a run to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen. Jeff Walz’s squad will return its leading point scorer, Asia Durr (19.2 ppg), and leading rebounder, Myisha Hines-Allen (9.3 rpg).

“This is a really intriguing matchup not only for our team but for our fan base as well,” IU coach Teri Moren said in a statement. “Louisville is a really solid opponent who will really challenge our non-conference schedule, and prepare us for Big Ten play.”

Apart from on-the-court matchups, this matchup has intrigue as far as recruiting, as well. Louisville native Jaelynn Penn will be one of five freshmen on next year’s IU squad. Another Louisville product, Grace Berger, will join the Hoosiers in 2018-19.

IU has a 6-4 record all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Last year, the Hoosiers fell to North Carolina State. The year before that, IU bested Georgia Tech.

The rest of IU’s non-conference schedule has yet to be announced. According to IU, it will feature seven home games in the non-conference. Just looking at last year’s schedule, several road opponents from ’16-17 should be heading to Assembly Hall in ’17-18, including Auburn, Western Kentucky and North Texas.

Go Hoosiers!
I was at the game in Indy last year. IU was awful and that was a preview of the painful remainder of the season.

Do the Louisville women recruits get male strippers to entice them to come to the university? If they do then IU is in big trouble.
