SERIES HISTORY
Maryland leads the series, 3-0
Last Meeting: 1/30/16 - L, 63-86 (College Park, Md.)

NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORT DAY
Indiana will take part in the annual celebration of achievement of females in sport on Sunday. A youth clinic with approximately 100 participants will take place as many of the IU women's teams will take part in the event in Gladstein Fieldhouse including cheerleading, field hockey, rowing, soccer, softball, track and field, swimming and diving and volleyball. The annual event is marking its 31st year at the national level, which celebrates the extraordinary achievements of women in sports.

VERSUS RANKED TEAMS
Indiana will face one of its highest ranked regular season opponents in recent years when it welcomes Maryland on Sunday, who is ranked 3rd in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll. IU has not played a top 5 team in regular season play since it faced the No. 5/5 Ohio State at home on Jan. 31, 2010. It is the highest ranked opponent since then No. 2/3 Ohio State visited Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Feb. 6, 2005. IU is 0-1 against ranked teams this season, falling to No. 14/13 Ohio State on New Year's Eve.

RIGHT THE SHIP
Indiana will look to get back on track as it fell 69-60 on Thursday at Michigan State. It marked a season low points (60) and second-lowest in field goal percentage (33.9). The win also prevented the Hoosiers from picking up its first win in East Lansing since 2009.

WIN AT WISCONSIN
For the first time since 2009, Indiana picked up a win inside Kohl Center over the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday, 78-54. Four players scored in double figures led by 19 points from junior guard Tyra Buss as IU used a 21-3 advantage in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.

250 WINS FOR MOREN
Indiana third-year head coach Teri Moren picked up her 250th victory as a head coach with Sunday's win at Wisconsin. She hits the career mark in her 14th season as a head coach, including the last three at the helm of the IU program. She also reached her 50th Hoosier win on Jan. 23 vs. Penn State and became the third fastest coach to reach 50 wins in school history in 84 games at the helm, behind Bea Gorton (60 games) and Felisha Lagette-Jack (82 games).

BUSS NAMED TO B1G HONOR ROLL
Tyra Buss earned a place on the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll on Monday for her performances against Penn State and Wisconsin. The Mt. Carmel, Ill. native averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds in a pair of IU wins. It marked the second time this season the Hoosiers have placed a player on the Big Ten honor roll, as Alexis Gassion picked up honors on Jan. 9.

HEAD TO THE LINE
Indiana made it a priority to get to the line last week and capitalized on free throws in two wins. IU went 53-for-61 (81.0 percent) from the charity stripe against Penn State and Wisconsin, while holding opponents to an 11-for-18 performance (61.1 percent).

JENN CONTINUES TO SCORE
Senior center Jenn Anderson continues to provide a solid scoring threat for the Hoosiers. She posted her fifth-straight double figure scoring game on Sunday when she added 14 points in the win at Wisconsin and scored double figures in the last five of six games. She is now averaging 11.1 points in Big Ten play on a 65.2 field goal percentage and grabbing 5.8 rebounds through nine league games.

TRIO OF 1,000 POINT SCORERS
With the addition of Amanda Cahill as the 26th member of the 1,000 point club on Dec. 21, IU's roster now features three active players on the all-time scoring list at the same time.
• Tyra Buss – 1,400 (13th)
• Alexis Gassion – 1,222 (16th)
• Amanda Cahill – 1,148 (19th)

MOVING UP THE CAREER BLOCK LIST
In addition to three active players on the all-time scoring list, IU also has three active players on the all-time career blocks list. Senior guard Alexis Gassion leads the trio of players with 79 career swats, which ranks eighth all time. Junior forward Amanda Cahill also registers on the list with 72 blocks, which ranks tied for ninth while senior center Jenn Anderson has tallied 55 blocks in her career which is 11th all-time.

58 AND COUNTING
Tyra Buss secured her 59th-straight game in double figures as she scored 16 points against Michigan State on Thursday. She officially broke the all-time school record with her 50th double figure scoring game on Dec. 21 against Stony Brook. She takes over the record from IU great Karna Abram, who did it 49 consecutive times between 1984-85 and 1985-86.

GOOD FROM THE FIELD
Shooting 50 percent or better in nine games this season, Indiana continues to be one of the leaders in field goal percentage. Their overall mark of 47.2 percent ranks 11th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten. IU returned back to the 50 percent or better field goal percentage on Jan. 19 as it shot 50 percent in the win over Purdue.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Cahill recorded her eighth double-double of the season on Jan. 23 when she scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a win over Penn State. She has recorded eight of IU's 12 double-doubles of the season and now has a total of 24 in her career - which ranks sixth all-time in school history. She also ranks sixth all-time in double-doubles in Big Ten games as she's recorded 13 in her career.

HOOSIERS IN THE RPI
Coming into Thursday's game, Indiana sits at No. 51 in the NCAA RPI while Maryland leads the Big Ten at No. 18. Overall, the Big Ten features six teams in the top 51 of the latest RPI.

BUSS CLIMBS THE BOOKS
Buss has now made her way into the top 10 of both assists (T7th, 347) and steals (7th, 189). She hit another career mark on Thursday night as she scored her 1,400 career points and has the potential to become just the second player ever to be on the IU top 10 list in points, steals and assists joining Jamie Braun (2007-10). She needs 103 points to reach Shirley Bryant's 1,503 career points to move into the top 10 of all-time scoring.

SCORING AS A JUNIOR
Buss - who set the scoring record for most points as a freshman and sophomore - continues to climb the scoring chart for most points through a junior season:
1. Denise Jackson (1,505)
2. Tyra Buss (1,400)
3. Rachelle Bostic (1,389)
4. Jill Chapman (1,346)
5. Cindy Bumgarner (1,311)
6. Karna Abram (1,284)

LEX DOES A LOT TOO
Senior guard Alexis Gassion is also one of the Hoosier's most powerful pieces on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The Fairborn, Ohio native is IU's third leading scorer with 13.6 points per game and the team's second leading rebounder grabbing 6.0 boards per contest. She is also second in assists (4.5 per game) and holds a 48.9 field goal percentage. Her 3.3 assist to turnover ratio is third in the Big Ten and ranks eighth in the nation. Gassion has also posted 19 games in double figures this season including the last 15 of 16 games.

No. 3/3 Terps Too Much For Indiana Women’s Basketball on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 3/3 Maryland was too much for Indiana Women's Basketball on Sunday afternoon as it fell 92-56 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Junior forward Amanda Cahill led Indiana with 16 points and nine rebounds while senior guard Alexis Gassion added nine point, grabbed seven boards and distributed a game-high seven assists. Senior center Jenn Anderson added eight points on 4-for-6 shooting but as a whole, the Hoosiers struggled from the field for the second-straight game as it shot a season-low 31.9 percent.

Junior guard Tyra Buss added seven points to go along with a season-high eight rebounds and dished out four assists to go along with four steals.

Maryland (23-1, 11-0 B1G) dominated much of the stat sheet, outrebounding IU, 47-32, and held it to its second fewest trips to the line as it went just 9-for-14 from the charity stripe.

IU (15-8, 5-5 B1G) scored on its opening possession on a transition pass from Buss to Gassion. Cahill's corner three put her team up 7-4 with 6:55 remaining but Maryland quickly tied it up on an and-1 opportunity before a 10-0 run helped the Terps separate themselves in the opening frame, taking a 27-13 lead.

In the second, Indiana struggled to score in the early goings and held without a field goal until the 5:31 mark when Gassion found Anderson underneath. The Hoosiers picked up the offensive pace near the end of the quarter, going 4-for-5 on a flurry of buckets from Buss and Cahill – who found herself in double figures in the first half with 1:27 to play before half. But it was a 56.3 field goal percentage that elevated Maryland to a 46-27 halftime lead.

It didn't get any easier for the Hoosiers in the second half, who struggled in the third quarter, getting outscored 28-9 and shooting 23.1 percent in the frame. IU mustered up 20 points in the fourth but were limited by poor shooting – going 31.9 percent in the final quarter as it picked up its second-straight loss.

QUOTABLE
Head coach Teri Moren
"Obviously, we're disappointed. It's a great team in Maryland. A Final Four caliber kind of team. They're good, they're starting five is tremendous and then they just bring in solid players off the bench. They get contribution from a bunch of different kids. But their starting five is as good, if not better than the very best teams in the country. I felt really good about our approach the last two days. I think our kids were excited about the opportunity to play Maryland. Unfortunately, we didn't shoot it well enough to win this afternoon. We still got out-rebounded, we knew that was going to be a key to the game. One of the reason is, they almost shot 60% to our 31%. There's a lot more defensive rebounds out there to get for them than offensive. I'm not surprised by that. I was frustrated in the third quarter with our nine points to their 28 points. I felt like our kids had an opportunity there, and looked like they were about to give in. We got the quick timeout and just challenged them to finish this thing off in the right. There were plays still out there to be made and I thought that we responded. I can't say that we're pleased with the way we played basketball for 40 minutes but that's a really good team and I don't want to take anything away from Maryland. We had to come in here not only to win but stay close, we didn't play well enough."
