Four players scored in double figures in the victory paced by junior forward Amanda Cahill with 19 points and eight rebounds. Tyra Buss (18 points, eight assists) and Kym Royster (14 points) along with Jenn Anderson (10 points) all scored in double figures. IU has won three-straight home meetings in the series and trails 53-29 in the all-time series. Purdue reached the quarterfinal round with a 72-58 win over Illinois on Thursday afternoon.

CAHILL NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
For the first time since 1989, Indiana Amanda Cahill earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honors, announced by the organization on Thursday. Cahill holds a 3.90 GPA in Elementary education at Indiana and is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree (2015-16, 2016-17). She is also a 2016 Academic All-Big Ten honoree and just the fourth player in school history to earn the distinction. IU now has a total of five Academic All-American selections, with the last a double selection of Ann Mooney and Amy Vanderkolk (1989) and Terri Friedman in 1981 and 1982. Fifteen Division I women's college basketball players earn Academic All-American distinction each year, and Cahill is one of three Big Ten selections on the list this season.

HOOSIER TRIO NAMED ALL-BIG TEN; GASSION EARNS ALL-DEFENSIVE
Juniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill along with senior Alexis Gassion earned All-Big Ten honors, announced by the league on Monday. Buss is a repeat All-Big Ten First Team selection and the first consecutive first team honoree for IU since Jill Chapman in 2001-02. Cahill picked up second team honors again this season, as she was a second team media pick and honorable mention coaches selection in 2015-16. Gassion earns her first league honors with a place on the All-Big Ten Honorable mention team while also picking up All-Defensive team nods, the first for Indiana since 2009 and just the second player ever. The trio becomes the first three selections for the program in one season for the first time in 2009 as well.

NO. 4 SEED AGAIN
IU will get the double-by advantage as it clinched the No. 4 seed in this week's Big Ten Tournament. It marks back-to-back years that the Hoosiers have earned the No. 4 seed and earn consecutive top 4 finishes in the Big Ten since 1984-85 and 1985-86.

20 WINS
Indiana secured more history on Saturday as a win over Illinois marked its 20th of the season. It comes as the Hoosiers win 20 games for the second-straight season for the first time ever. IU's double-digit wins in Big Ten play (10) are also the first back-to-back double figure victories for IU since 2007-08 and 2008-09. Last season, the Hoosiers went 21-12 overall and 12-6 in league play. IU has also already solidified an overall winning season, recording the first back-to-back winning campaigns for the program since 2007-08 and 2008-09.

KARLEE LIGHTS UP
Senior guard Karlee McBride has been a spark from long range in the past three games. She has combined for 13 triples and shot 40.6 percent from long range. She set a new career-high with five 3-pointers in the regular season finale against Illinois and also hit what would turn out to be the game winner in double overtime against Iowa on Senior Day.

DOUBLE OT
In one of the most thrilling games in recent memory, Indiana pulled off an 80-77 double overtime win over Iowa on Senior Day Feb. 22. It marked the first double overtime game in nearly a decade - last going two extra periods in the 2007-08 campaign.

500 OR MORE
Tyra Buss made another mark in the IU record books on Feb. 22, becoming the third player in school history to reach 500 points in back-to-back seasons. Only Jori Davis (2009-10, 2010-11) and Denise Jackson (1981-82, 1982-83) have accomplished that feat for Indiana. In 2015-16, Buss took her scoring to new heights as she turned in the third-best single season performance with 620 points scored in 33 games played. Through 29 games, Buss has scored 540 points.

SCORING AS A JUNIOR
Buss - who set the scoring record for most points as a freshman and sophomore - set a new record for points for an IU player through their junior season:

2. Denise Jackson (1,505)
3. Rachelle Bostic (1,389)
4. Jill Chapman (1,346)
5. Cindy Bumgarner (1,311)
6. Karna Abram (1,284)

DOUBLE DIGIT JENN
Senior center Jenn Anderson has made her senior season her best one yet. She's coming off back-to-back double figure performances, where she scored 20 points in the win over Iowa and 11 on the road against Illinois. She has set a new career-high 13 double figure scoring games this season and is shooting a team-high 63.0 percent from the field.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Cahill recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 13 points and a season-high 15 rebounds in the regular season finale at Illinois on Saturday. She has recorded 11 of IU's 16 double-doubles of the season and now has a total of 28 in her career - which ranks sixth all-time in school history. She also ranks sixth all-time in double-doubles in Big Ten games as she's recorded 16 in her career.

SPREAD THE LOVE
The Hoosiers don't mind spreading the wealth as it passed out at least 18 assists for the 13th time on Feb. 22 in the win over Iowa. They have hit a season-high 22 assists on three different occasions and have 11 or more assists in every game this season. IU ranks fourth in assists in the Big Ten (16.8 per game) and 22nd in the nation.

HOOSIERS IN THE RPI
Coming into tournament play, Indiana sits at No. 44 in the NCAA RPI. Overall, the Big Ten features five -- teams in the top 50 of the latest RPI.

TRIO OF 1,000 POINT SCORERS
With the addition of Amanda Cahill as the 26th member of the 1,000-point club on Dec. 21, IU's roster now features three active players on the all-time scoring list at the same time.
• Tyra Buss – 1,522 (10th)
• Alexis Gassion – 1,288 (14th)
• Amanda Cahill – 1,254 (15th)

MOVING UP THE CAREER BLOCK LIST
In addition to three active players on the all-time scoring list, IU also has three active players on the all-time career blocks list. IU set to face rival Purdue in Big Ten quarterfinals
by Josh Eastern

Last season heading into the Big Ten Tournament, IU was in the same position it is in now as a four seed.

However, the Hoosiers ended up losing that first game to 12-seed Northwestern. Instead of taking two consecutive days off in the days leading up to the game, IU Coach Teri Moren changed up the week of prep in order to avoid a similar result to last year.

IU will look to advance to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament when they face the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

“I think its been on our minds,” senior center Jenn Anderson said of last year’s result. “Knowing last year we were the four seed, we went up there, and we really didn’t show up. We have to put in more preparation now just to know we have to go up there and we have to play and we have to be ready to play because it’s a one and done.”

After IU’s win against Illinois last Saturday to close out the Big Ten regular season, it looked as if it would be the five-seed. After Nebraska pulled a stunning upset of Michigan State, IU slid up to the four seed. Because of that, the Hoosiers earned the vital double-bye. In order to stay fresh, Moren said the team is getting up a lot of shots to avoid a let down on the offensive end.

Because of the uncertainty of whom IU will be playing in its first game earlier in the week, the Hoosiers ran through offensive motions for each of the three potential opponents. After Purdue knocked off Illinois, 72-58, IU is shifting its attention squarely to Purdue, whom IU beat in their lone meeting this season.

The opponent will be waiting for IU in Indianapolis, but Moren is honing in on the mental preparation as well.

“It was just a short year ago where we were in the same scenario in that double-bye and didn’t play very well against Northwestern,” Moren said. “We are trying to do everything to make sure that doesn’t happen to us. A lot of that is about our mental preparation and our focus.”

In the first matchup between the Hoosiers and Boilermakers, IU, behind a big fourth quarter, was able to hold off Purdue. A big factor in the January game was IU sophomore forward Kym Royster, who ended with 14 points off the bench. It was Royster and the IU defense that were the difference in getting that win.

This time around, the Hoosiers should have a similar game plan. Senior point guard Ashley Morissette, who averages 16 points a game, leads Purdue and was the only player in double figures for the Boilermakers with 17 points in the first meeting.

For Anderson, a Sheridan, Indiana, native, playing at Bankers Life against an in-state rival will be a really good experience, she said.

“You don’t get to do it a lot in an arena like that," Anderson said. "It’s kind of special. “I think we’ll have a really good crowd even if we do play Purdue, it will be two Indiana schools. I know I have a lot of family coming, so I think everyone will be ready.”

IU still has some work to do in order to cement its place in the NCAA Tournament. A loss means the Hoosiers could be sweating out selection Monday. A win and they might feel just a bit more comfortable. IU, however, has no plans on coming back to Bloomington after just one game in the Big Ten Tournament.

“The great thing is we’re going to be at home,” Moren said. “I don’t know if there is anything in particular that makes a difference other than the fact that — two things — it’s tournament play. If you want to stay there and enjoy the tournament and to me that’s the biggest motivator, and the fact that we’re still playing for something.”

Second Half Sinks Indiana Women’s Basketball in Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 4 seed Indiana couldn't hang on to a halftime lead as it fell to No. 5 seed Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, 66-60, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday afternoon.

Purdue, however, took control in the final two minutes of play, taking its first lead since the first quarter with 1:55 left on the clock.
