even though it was an exhibition game. Any possible way they can play that way again and win @ Nebraska and start out 4 or 5-0 in the conference? It is really needed to make a run at the conference title.

An exhibition/practice game isn’t real season. Teams mess with rotations and etc.. during these games.
Only thing that exhibition showed is this team does have the capability to beat anyone. Both teams did treat it like an exhibition, but it was obvious as the 2nd half got deeper, both teams played to win that game. So, we can beat anyone, anywhere, in any situation.
The problem comes with our lack of consistency. And the bad runs the downside of that lack of consistency produces. We've already seen it against lesser teams than UT in Louisville and Gonzaga. We had a really poor stretch of play in both those games, and it caused us to get blown out.
In the regular season, when there's less experimenting, less fiddling with lineups...10-15 minute stretches of really poor play, against good teams, almost always loses games. Both teams in that UT game were fiddling around a little bit early on, then went for the win the last 1/3 of the game or so. Every team Woodson has had, was competitive in basically every single game they played, for 1/2 to 2/3 of the game. Its that inconsistency, and that bad stretch of play, that dooms his teams.
I've been meaning to rewatch that Tennessee win to see what's changed in the last 6 weeks, especially defensively.
I believe the scrimmage designation against a top level opponent yields a plus or minus 7 or 8 point variation verse a regular season game.
So comparatively at worst, it could have been a 5 point loss or a very low double digit win at that time.
The takeaway being, this IU team can compete with and beat anybody on the schedule, if they play well/hard for 40 mins.
