The Huskers went on a 5-0 run out of the timeout to get within 8 points at 53-45. IU would push the lead back up to 60-48 on two buckets after the Huskers had hit another 3-ball and that was the score at a 3:17 timeout.
The Huskers' flurry of points seemed to be stymied by IU and IU put the lead back up to 16 at 64-48 with under two minutes left in the period. IU had pushed the lead up to 19 points with less than one minute left in the period.
