IU/UL Series

I would like to see that

It would be interesting if they could set the all-time attendance record like Pitino wants, in Lucas Oil Stadium. Nothing official but it sounds like it is pretty close to being a done deal.

Be hard to get the all time attendance record

because I think they have that at Jerry's World in Dallas and Lucas Oil can't come close to that amount of seats.

Re: Be hard to get the all time attendance record

Then Rick Pitino must be dreaming. He has stated numerous times how he wants to set the attendance record and play IU at Lucas Oil, doing it.

Wasn't that game at Jerry's World when UK and Baylor played but due to bad weather (snow and ice), very few attended?

Record was actually at Ford Field

I just looked it up and the record is 78,127 at Ford Field where MSU played UK. The largest attendance ever to see a basketball game was at Dallas to see the 2010 NBA all Star game with 108,713 in attendance.

Re: Be hard to get the all time attendance record

The UK vs Wisky game was played at Jerry's World which is larger than Lucas Oil but it's also located in TX so it didnt sell out. They do have the record for a single game but its at 79,444. When you count floor seats for Lucas Oil, that record probably has the ability to be surpassed. I dont think it will because surpassed because its a regular season game taking place during football season so the hype won't be at the necessary level.

Then again, if IU gets a serious post player or two and everyone currently on the roster returns.....

Not for me to say of course but I hate to see IU play UL. I was happy when you stopped playing UK. Those are two of the worst programs, period. There is no need to lower the prestige of IU and the Big by playing with the rats.

In fact can anyone explain why/how North Carolina is still playing basketball?? At least Syracuse imposed a self punishment. Syracuse is a choir boy next to UNC. SMH

Almost the same deal that Calipari turned down

Which was 2 neutral sites along with a home & home. But as has been stated before, Calipari won't set foot inside assembly hall after the Wat-shot game and that trailer park pornstar got pushed down.

I like that fact that Pitino and L-ville are willing to negotiate, if anything to jointly stick it to UK. They can go down and play in Jerry World all year long...would rather keep them out of Indianapolis as much as possible if they are unwilling to come to Bloomington.

Re: UK in Indy

Wish Indy, as the home TV market of IU/btown didn't reward UK for refusing the series by laying out the red carpet for other Indianapolis UK games like this past year. Cal got what he wanted. Indy doesn't really do IU, other towns many favors, imo.

Agree 100%

Would rather see Indy (Lucas/BankerLife) offer up more games to Notre Dame, Butler, and IU than invite UK across the river.

Lucas Oil said Cal was lying

At the time Calipari said he had firm dates with Lucas Oil for an IU/UK matchup ... later on representatives for Lucas Oil said that was not true.

This year is a different story and you are right, the city went for the money by inviting UK to the city. I didn't see the game and can't remember who they played. When you look at ND, Butler, would have either of those schools produced large crowds at Lucas Oil? I doubt it. Neither travel well to Indy for the Crossroads Classic.

Re: Lucas Oil said Cal was lying

They played Kansas, followed by Duke/Mich St. in the Champions Classic. Next year the series heads to Chicago and then New York in 2016.

I can see them wanting a piece of that for the money, and those 4 teams. I just hope they don't make a habit of offering up our fertile recruiting grounds if we are not involved. Call me selfish.

You two were truly made for each other. Enjoy the series.
