IU signs JUCO #2 punter

Alejandro Quintero

It appears Evans will need to win the job for the fall season
Wait a minute. You mean it's actually within NCAA recruiting rules to offer a Punter out of an American JUCO or High School? After the past several years I was under the impression that You could only recruit modified Australian Rules Football and Rugby Players who were trained at special facilities in Australia or New Zealand. Who Knew.

Are either of these guys on scholarship? Surely, we don't have two scholarship punters.
Evans is ((full ride)) for certain...

Maybe one of our "connected" guys can fill us in on whether AQ is a Preferred Walk-On or a Full Ride Scholarship...

Looks like Allen is serious about giving Evans some competition... Should send a message...,(hopefully).

I still think he can be a good one but just needs more focus along with reps under pressure... Last Fall was his first as an actual American football player ever...

This should tell him (Evans) however that the time to grind and get better is Now... There's no more coddling to be had... The stakes this Fall are too high...

Per this:

it looks like AQ is most likely a Preferred Walk-On (which is still means he could be a great one..., Allen usually only offers the PWO status to guys he believes can put enough work in to become a starter)... I don't recall our having given a PWO slot at that position ever...

Seems like a good deal for all concerned...

Great to have another Texan on the Roster...!

According to Blinn's website, he had 22 punts with an average of 34.6 yards per. Six of his punts were inside the 20. He also made 4 of 5 attempted FGs and 20 of 21 extra points.
