Last season, they announced the all-B1G teams and individual award winners just in front of the B1G tournament. IU should have a few players on that list. I believe that Coach Mercer has to be the leader for Coach of the Year honor, and Devin Taylor should be one of the frontrunners for the freshman of the year award.
Coach Mercer's team was picked by the B1G coaches for 6th place in their preseason poll with Maryland, Rutgers, Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska all picked in front of them, and IU went 40-16 and 16-8 in the B1G for 2nd place. The Maryland coach won the award last season and the Terps were heavy favorites to finish 1st in the conference this season based on what they had coming back, so you have to believe that Coach Mercer would have the edge over the Terps' Rob Vaugn. If Mercer wins it, it will be the 2nd time for that honor after winning it in 2019.
I haven't kept up with what the other freshmen around the conference have done, but they had to have a really good season to keep up with what Devin Taylor did this season, and he finished the regular season with a bang with that two-homer game to help secure IU's 2nd place finish.
