IU-Purdue series

Looking back at the error by the pitcher that allowed Scotty Bradley on base, he should have been called out. Tough call with the pitcher pulling his foot off and on the bag for no apparent reason.

Hoosiers get a leadoff single but strand him at second. Headed to the third. Tied 1-1.

Beauchamp struggling still. Leadoff walk and a single has two on and none out.

Purdue gets the lead back on another McGowan single. Still no outs in the third for Beauchamp with runners on first and second. 2-1

Walker commits hits third error of the series at shortstop. Loads the bases. No outs.

Houston has been sketchy all season, but this kid just isn’t ready for this level.

Beauchamp got a huge strikeout and then gets a double play ball to Justin Walker. Hoosiers allow just one run in the third to go down 2-1.

Walker's definitely ready at the plate, but defensively, he has made some freshman mistakes in this series. Might need some more reps.

Purdue's center fielder Skyler Hunter is really fast. He makes a great grab against the center field wall and then tracks down a Logan Sowers ball in the left-center gap. IU can't respond in the third.

Run scored for Purdue. A leadoff double followed by a wild pitch moved the runner to third. Fielder's choice pushed him across. 3-1 in the 4th.

Error to Justin Walker again. His second of the day and fourth of the series.

Charlie Nasuti pops a single over Justin Walker's head and into shallow center to score Powers from second. 4-1 Purdue in the 4th.

McGowan lifts a ball to right field. Sac fly brings in another Boilermaker to make it 5-1. That's his third RBI.

Hoosiers get on the board again. Dunham drives in Bradley from second with a single. 5-2 Purdue in teh bottom of the 4th. Runners still on the corners with no outs.

Justin Walker brings in Gorski from third. 5-3 Hoosiers with one out. IU trying to mount a comeback in the bottom of the fourth.

Lloyd gets Olund in a rundown and throws home to get Nisle who was trying to sneak in a run. Still 5-3 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Logan Sowers gets his 200th career hit. Just the 22nd Hoosier to reach the milestone.

Gorski singles to bring in Sowers from third. Runners on the corners with 1 out for Dunham. 5-4

Gorksi tries to steal second for some reason. He's thrown out form the catcher's knees.

Sam Crail pinch hits for Cole Barr and flies out to end the inning. 5-4 Purdue after 5. Cal Krueger to enter

Cal Krueger will pitch for IU down 5-4 after getting the loss Friday in the ninth. Stratten is at third for Crial, who pinch-hit. Looks like Miller won't be used today.

Again we don't score the runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs. Seems like we do that often.

That was really strange. Gorski didn’t even take off until the catcher had the ball. Why do you run yourself out of an inning like that. This team seems to make a lot of errors running the bases. Without that out Fineman scores on that last fly ball. Well, they’ll have to make up for it somewhere here.

Gorski was the same player that challenged Tyler Powers at second base and scored by stealing home. Tough to give a guy like that the red light. But I agree, seems like a poorly timed decision on Gorski's part.

Logan Kaletha just about gave IU the lead, but his deep fly ball falls just short of the wall and into Skyler Hunter's glove. Justin Walker stays at first.

That was a horrible at bat by kaletha. Yes, almost hit it out, but let two perfect balls go by without a swing, then swings at a ball too high.

And more importantly, doesn't move the runner over. Bradley's bunt the exception, we suck at small ball.

Justin Walker got a great jump, beat the throw to second, but he overslid the bag and was tagged out. Tough day for the kid.

Looked to me his foot was on the bag, and if it did come off it was due to the pressure of the tag.
It didn't appear the tag was actually on Walker until his foot was off the bag. The first replay view was unclear, but the second certainly confirmed he over slid the bag. But your reaction was my initial reaction too.

I take that back. The tag was on him but he did not push him off

It doesn't take much pressure to help the foot go off the bag in that situation. If the tag was on the body, it would be one thing; but applied to the foot, it's impossible for it not to have an effect. But I only saw the one replay.

HOME RUN: Scotty Bradley launches the first pitch of his at bat over the right field fence to tie the game, 5-5.

thank u, Scotty. Swing at strikes, and not balls, and that can happen. Of course, the ump totally screwed over fineman. That ball was a foot inside he called a strike, then had to swing at a ball for strike 3.

Cal Krueger has retired all nine batters he's seen so far. Struck out four of them.
