The Hoosiers welcome the Boilermakers into town for a 3-game series today. First pitch at 3:30.

Stiever allows a runner to third but gets out of the inning clean. On to the bottom of the first.

After a quick inning from the Hoosiers, Stiever gets out of the second, 1-2-3.

Another quick bottom half, and we head to the top of the third scoreless. Quite the pitching duel.

Freshman Cole Barr makes a nice play at third to end the top of the third. Stiever has still allowed just one hit.

Scotty Bradley gets the hitting started for the Hoosiers here in the third with a leadoff double.

Justin Walker hits a towering chopper that allows Scotty Bradley to score even with the Purdue infield playing in. It's 1-0 Hoosiers.

Jacson McGowan crushes an opposite field home run, his ninth of the season. That gives Purdue the lead, 2-1, in the top of the 4th.

McGowan's 2-run shot gets Purdue the lead. Olund also hit a double but a nice play by Lloyd at second keeps him from scoring. 2-1, to the bottom of the 4th.

Hoosiers threaten and push Luke Miller to third after a double, bu tRyan Fineman's shot to right-center is caught on the run. Still 2-1 Purdue heading into the 5th.

Justin Walker lined out over the shoulder of Powers at second. Gorski made his way back to third but then challenged Powers from shallow outfield and beat the second baseman's throw home. I've never seen a play like that before. That ties the game at 2-2.

Huge opportunity for the Hoosiers to take the lead with Luke Miller at the plate and bases loaded. Made solid contact with a couple foul balls and then was wrung up on a questionable strike call. 2-2, T6.

Matt Gorski gets to first on a throwing error and then steals second and advances to third on a throwing error. Boilers have three errors today.

Nothing comes out of those throwing errors though, as Cole Barr grounds out. Still tied 2-2 heading into the 7th.

Gorski makes the grab in left and ends the top of the 8th. Still tied at 2-2.

Gorski and Ashley popout with a runner on second. IU still tied with Purdue, 2-2, heading to the ninth. Cal Krueger is in to pitch.

Krueger has walked two batters and hit another. Continuously behind in the count. No arms in the pen. Bases loaded.

Justin Walker boots the 2-out chopper with the bases loaded. Purdue takes the lead, 4-2, in the top of the ninth. Four baserunners on an HBP, 2 walks and an error.

Very well could be the worst game of the season. No clutch hitting or fielding.

Kaletha (surprise!) gets a base hit and pushes Justin Walker to second. one out

Gonna hang this one on the big man. Curious decisions all thru the game to say the least. Pulling your best power hitter in the bottom of the 9th for a kid who's been sitting for 3 hours? Almost seems like the intent was to send some kind of message to the more experienced guys and it clearly backfired.

You beat me to it. Stratten has done nothing at the plate this year, and you pinch-hit him for Miller? The explanation for that move will be interesting.

It's very early, i know, but sitting at 1-2 in the Big Ten after 3 games is not what I expected from this team. Now they have to win about 5-6 in a row.

Pretty sure the power hitter was pulled due to his antics the previous AB. If so, that’s a good message. Tomorrow’s another day. Go Hoosiers!

Here a little late but I'm at Bart Kaufman Field. We are headed to the second inning with Purdue leading by a run.

Couple tough Cole Barr bunt plays at third base allow the bases loaded with no outs.

Pauly Milto gets out of the jam somehow. Short popout and a groundball double play keeps the score at 1-0 Purdue.
