In a complete turnabout, IU is blowing PSU away in the 2nd game.

T6th:

Wiggins was hit by a pitch, Taylor doubled, Dickerson walked, Denny SAC flied with Wiggins scoring, Hanley was hit by a pitch, and Stadler hit into a DP.

B6th:

With Koskie on the mound, the leadoff hitter was hit by a pitch and a WP moved the runner to 2nd. A WP moved the runners to 2nd. A full count walk put runners at 1st and 2nd and no outs.

A groundout moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. A single and a SAC fly scored two runs and a K ended the inning.

End of 6th: IU 13 PSU 3

T7th:

Malamazian Kd to leadoff, Cerny singled, Moore grounded out, and Wiggins flied out to retire the side.

B7th:

RHP Pete Haas replaced Koskie and he will try to run-rule PSU in the 7th. Haas gave up a leadoff single.

A K got the first out with the runner still at 1st.

A double put runners on corners with one out, and this game is in jeopardy of going the full 9 innings. Wiggins dropped the ball on the play and was charged an error.

Haas then got a huge K for two outs with the runners still on the corners. The runner on 1st took 2nd on what would be called a defensive indifference.

Another double scored two runs and this game will continue with the score now at 13-5. Haas just couldn't get that third out.

A batter reached on an error by Cerny which scored a run to make it 13-6. It was the 2nd error of the inning for IU.

A K finally ended the inning. The two errors played a huge part in extending this game with all three runs scored in the inning being unearned.

End of 7th: IU 13 PSU 6

T8th:

Taylor Kd to lead off. Dickerson single, but Denny Kd for the 2nd out.

Hanley singled to put runners on the corners and two outs.

Stadler sent a 3-run bomb over the RF wall to make it 16-6 and Malamazian doubled with two outs.

Cerny singled to score Malamazian to make it 17-6.

With Moore up, PSU went to the bullpen. Moore walked on a full count to put runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Wiggins grounded out to retire the side.

B8th:

Haas faced the bottom of the order in his second attempt to run-rule PSU with errors preventing it in the previous inning.

Haas put them down in order to end the game.

Final: IU 17 PSU 6

It took a while for IU's bats to come alive in Game 1 today, but they didn't waste anytime getting jumping on PSU pitching in the 2nd game scoring four runs in the 1st.

IU outhit PSU in the second game 22 to 6 and IU had eight batters with two or more hits, and even with that many hits and runs scored, they left 14 runners on the bases. IU had two homers and eight doubles in the game. Malamazian had a big game at the plate.

Here's a list of the multi-hit players:

Malamazian - 4 for 5 with 4 doubles and 3 RBIs
Hanley - 3 for 4 with a double
Cerny - 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs
Taylor - 3 for 5 with a double
Stadler - 2 for 4 with a 3-run homer
Dickerson - 2 for 4 with a homer and 3 RBIs
Wiggins - 2 for 6 with a double and RBI
Schuyler - 2 for 2

Brenczewski, Denny, and Moore also had an RBI apiece.

We got a great pitching game out of Ben Grable, his second really good outing after a shaky start to his first appearance of the season. He went 5 IP with 3 hits and an earned run. He had 4 Ks to 1 BB and the rest of his slate was clean.

Koskie had a shaky inning going 1.0 IP with 1 hit and 2 earned runs. He had 1 K and 1 BB, with a WP and a hit batter.

Haas came in and pitched really well over the final 2.0 IP and probably would have ended the game in the 7th if not for some sloppy fielding in which two errors were charged in that inning. He came into the 8th and put them down in order to end the game. His numbers were 2.0 IP with 2 hits and no earned runs, 3 Ks and no BBs, with the rest of his slate clean.

Fielding in the game was good up until that aforementioned 7th inning two errors that kept the game going for another inning. We had three errors on the day counting the one we had in game one.

It was good to see IU bounce back with good hitting and pitching. Here's hoping for the rubber match on Sunday(?) maybe. I'm looking for a bounce back game out of Gilley in that game.

22 hits to 6 is a solid game. Gotta tighten up on D and hit with bad intentions EVERY game.

Just thought I would give an update on the weather tomorrow (Sun) at game time which is at 1 p.m. ET. They expect it to be 44 with sun and intermittent skies and wind at 17 mph which is going to make it feel nippy.
