IU @ PSU, Game 1: PSU drops IU, 15-9...

The schedule change screwed me all up as far as covering this game since I had an appointment that would not let me cover the early action. As I post this, Seebold had just given up a GS homer to give PSU a 5-3 lead.

B3rd:

After giving up the GS homer, Seebold gave up a double and then balked the batter to 3rd with two outs. A single score the run from 3rd to make it 6-3. A two-out double scored another run.

T4th:

Malamazian walked, Cerny fouled out, Oliver Kd, Malamazian stole 2nd, Wiggins was hit by a pitch, Taylor walked to load the bases with two outs, and Dickerson Kd to end the threat and retire the side.

B4th:

Seebold was back out there and he got the first two batters on a flyout and foul out, but then walked a batter on four pitches and then gave up a single to put runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Mercer went to the bullpen and brought in LHP Ryan Rushing.

A two-out RBI single scored a run to make it 8-3 with runners at 1st and 2nd. Rushing then hit a batter to load the bases.

Rushing then walked in a run on a full count, which closed the book on Seebold's appearance. IU may get run-ruled in this game if they don't get their bats going, and they had a golden opportunity of that in the top of the inning where they had the bases loaded, but came up empty.

Yet another walk, this time on a 3-1 count, brings in another run to make it 10-3, and PSU has scored three runs after two outs in this inning.

Mercer went to the bullpen again and brought in LHP Ryan Kraft and he gave up a GS homer on his first pitch to make it 14-3. Seven runs in this inning have come with two outs. I'm not surprised they brought in Kraft, given the score. It was PSU's second grand slam of the game.

A K finally ended the inning and IU gave up 13 runs over the last two innings.

End of 4th: PSU 14 IU 3

T5th:

PSU went to the bullpen with Brenczewski up and both he and Hanley Kd for two outs.

Schuyler doubled to left center to put a man in scoring position with two outs.

No clutch hit as Malamazian flied out to retire the side.

B5th:

Kraft was back out there to face the 3 thru 5 hitters and why not, given the 11-run deficit we have. We have two other games to play this weekend so we might as well leave Kraft in there.

Kraft got a pop out, and then gave up a solo homer, A K got the 2nd out. A fielding error by Taylor put a man on with two outs. A flyout ended the inning.

End of 5th: PSU 15 IU 3

T6th:

Cerny popped out to lead off. The struggling Oliver flied out for two outs. Mercifully, the run-rule is in effect for this game.

Wiggins Kd to retire the side.

B6th:

Kraft was back out there to face the 8 thru 1 hitters and he Kd the leadoff hitter. A single put a runner on and then Kraft got a K for the 2nd out. A flyout ended the inning.

End of 6th: PSU 15 IU 3

T7th:
In what is probably the last inning of the game, Taylor led off with a bomb over the CF wall to make it 15-4. Dickerson who is in a little bit of a slump, Ks swinging.

Denny came in to pinch hit for Brenczewski and he walked. Hanley walked to put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out. PSU went to the bullpen. Schuyler Kd for the 2nd out.

Malamazian doubled to score both Denny and Hanley to make it 15-6 and there goes the run-rule end of the game as we will continue on.

Cerny doubled to score Malamazian to make it 15-7.

Oliver walked on a 3-1 count to put runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Wiggins singled to load the bases with two outs.

Taylor fouled out to retire the side.

B7th:

Kraft was back out there to face the 3 thru 5 hitters.

Scheduling conflicts today are preventing me from completing this game and probably some of the other game.

With the game time changes and knowing what my scheduling was like today, I probably shouldn't have even started this game. It's 15-9 PSU as I sign off this game.

Had a runner on with one out in the T9th and Taylor hit into a double play to end the game. IU scored just enough to keep the game going to the full 9 innings so they didn't get fully "pantsed" LOL. I thought that this was going to be a 20 run drubbing after the 3rd and 4th inning blowups.
