IU Louisville Game Discussion

Look at what Scott did with football. He'll have the leverage to take action on basketball this season. He's the man for the job.
There are more guys like Kelce out there, I'm sure. Let the year play out, then go get a proven college coach, that plays a perimeter oriented style, and that recruits at his level very well. If that guy is coaching in D3 somewhere, so be it.

Yep. As I think we've discussed before, there are like 20 coaches who could do very well here. Top-5 NIL + good, modern coaching = good results.

This reminds me of when we'd run a 10K for conditioning in college. The beginning is hard, you're in pain, and you just want to quit. But you know you can't, and you know you're gonna have to finish it out. But the thought of running 5 more miles seems like an impossibility. But soon after, you just go numb, you endure it, and eventually you finish it. And then you puke all over everything at the end.

That's what following IU basketball is going to be like this year.

They have an identity, and they play with focus and purpose. They're not as talented as IU, probably not really at any position. But magical things happen when the coach gets everyone on the same page, and runs effective stuff.
Hepburn is good. Has always given us trouble. Maybe not a 5 star, but smart, plays hard and is a pest.

How in all the hell's do you let Louisville get out on a 5 on 2 fastbreak where the other three IU players are just watching the play from the other end standing there not caring about the play?????????

It just takes one good hire Pearl, Beard, May, Oats, hell I would take Brad Brownell form Clemson Evansville guy what he did with Clemson... I would take Matta over Woodson right now..
None of those hires happen if they don’t let Dolson and whitten do their job. I’d bet money whitten wouldn’t take Pearl, oats or beard. I’d bet none of those but I have zero clue who…

Fans can only do so much. IU fans have been longsuffering for decades now. They show up. They travel. The fans spend their money to support the team. They now pay for apps and streaming services they don't really want. It has to stop. It's time to send a very clear message they can't ignore.

Bad for Cav’s health with no vent here. You hold it in and blood pressure skyrockets and next thing you know some guy is over you doing chest compressions.

Honestly wouldn't even go after any of those guys. Go find 4-5 Kelce's (proven college coach at mid/low D1, D2, NAIA, or D3), right now, throw out the double top secret behind the scenes feelers right now...watch and vet the hell out of them the next 3 months. Make the move 5 minutes after IU and whoever the next coach's seasons are over.

Guesses for what happens next? Woody gets angry? Same old song and dance routine responses? Players only meeting?
There's really nothing to say after you get scorched like this. He should do a Calapari and not show up post-game. Always a classy look.

Why would anyone want to play here? Only $. I have been a lifelong fanatic since Jimmy Rayl. Now I don’t even watch the games anymore. A schedule of patsies to rack up a few wins for an inept coaching staff. Indiana fans do not deserve this garbage. I am at a loss for words. Embarrassing doesn’t even begin to describe the program at this point in time.

I have looked several times for video of Rayl at IU and nothing. Did you see him play and if so how did he play.

Why can’t we quit? It looked like some of the players did.

"Listen maannn...These guys just don't get it. I can't go make the plays for them. We just gotta get back to work. Start acting like grown men. I've been where they want to go, I know what it takes."...and then oddly no clues or indication that he actually does know what it takes. They'll "bounce back". The only redeeming quality of Woodson's IU teams is they've all been fairly resilient. So we'll have better days than today this year, probably a lot better. But for me, the damage is done. This performance can't happen, year 4, against that team, with this roster. Can't happen.

I hope people who travelled to see this game are in the ADs ear.
I made the mistake of going to the game against Auburn in ATL. While it was nice to spend time with my son, it was a pathetic showing and I decided it would be the last game I pay to attend in person while Woodson is here. He rarely has his team ready to play. And after watching the first 12-14 minutes of this game today, it was clear nothing has changed.

I'm amazed this still happened with this upgraded roster. Sure we could lose, but another total blowout, and this time vs a not so great team? It's incredible.

True fans wouldn't ask this.

I was upset that I couldn’t get this game on TV. Sounds like it was a good thing I wasn’t able to watch it reading all the comments here.

I was hoping that Woodson could turn things around this year but doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Like someone said, this is beginning to to look like Archie’s 4th year. I’m 73, been a life long fan. Had family members play basketball & football at IU. This is about as low as I’ve seen things. Even worse than the Lou Watson years. I was looking forward to this season but not sure if I can stick it out unless things take a sharp reversal.

I don’t think you can hold Dolsen responsible for this mess. It’s all on QB & his cronies. I really think Dolsen was ready to fire Woody but they forced his hand. It appears he made a good hire in Cignati, time will tell. If he’s going to fire Woody I hope it’s sooner than later and not wait till the end of the season

I hate to tell you, but Louisville is not very good.
You might be correct -but it’s for sure UofL isn’t anywhere close to 28 points better than IU. By all accounts, that gym has an unusual configuration, which takes some getting used to. I believe Louisville won this game in July, when they scheduled two exhibition games there to get used to it.

I think Scott has proven on the football side he knows what he is doing. He needs that same control and support on the bball side.

He DEFINITELY made a good hire in Cignati.
