Garzon picked up her 2nd foul with 5:14, and then the officials called Scalia for a foul with the fouls at 8 for IU and 3 for Princeton. Scalia knocked down another 3-ball to make it 35-17 at the under 3-minute mark. Parrish picked up her 3rd foul near the end of the period. Princeton knocked down a 3-ball to end the half.

The Tigers scored four straight points after the timeout and it was 51-38, but Scalia hit a 3-ball to make it 54-38. Princeton cut the lead to 54-42 at the under 2-minute mark of the period.

At a TV timeout at the 4:14 mark, it was IU up 64-54 and Princeton going to the FT line out of the timeout and Parrish heading to the bench with four fouls. It was IU up 64-57 at the 3:10 mark. The teams traded 3-point shots with IU up at 67-60 under two minutes to play. An old-fashion three-point play by Scalia put the lead up to 10 at 70-60 at the 1:11 mark. Princeton hadn't shot the ball much from behind the arc but they hit another 3-ball to make it 70-63 with under one minute to play. It was IU up 72-63 with 31 seconds left.

IU never trailed both Tenn and Princeton in the Ft Myers Tip-Off. Princeton didn't quit and gave IU a game in the 2nd half. Princeton is the favorite to win the Ivy League and they had a reputation of having a solid team coming into the game so IU has to be happy with the win on a neutral court. Princeton came into the game as a team that gave up a lot of fouls, but ironically, it was the foul line that played a major part in their comeback in the 3rd period in which they cut into the margin. IU players seemed to be frustrated over how the game was being called based on the radio coverage of the game.
IU was led by Scalia with 28 points, while Holmes had 20 points and she broke the 2,000-point mark in career scoring and was just the second player to do that. IU shot 51.9 pct from the field and was 50.0 pct on threes. Princeton was 41.7 pct from the field and 33.3 pct on 3s.
IU had 14 turnovers on the game while the Tigers had 13. Princeton outrebounded IU, 34 to 30, and the Tigers had 11 offensive boards to 4 for IU.
