Carried by the pride of a Women's program while the men continuously step on... themselves
Not that there's anything wrong with that... Teri Moren deserves a ton of credit for pulling her team out of a late season tailspin brought on by injuries (sound familiar)
What Woodson doesn't have that Painter had was 10-15 years to get this thing right. He's 63... problem with hiring old coaches is they get old-er
Liked what I saw today in fight from X, he is the new troy williams, he can carry you to victory.... or make a play at the end of the game that makes you think......... WTF?
There isn't a single... NOT ONE... player on this team that I look at for next season and say "Can't lose that dude".
Mike Woodson didn't forget basketball, he just seemingly underestimated that 18-21 year old kids that aren't NBA players can't all hit outside shots if you leave them open... even the ones that you recruited them to do just that.
I'm excited for a new team, because I think the team will be DRASTICALLY different for the first time in a few years next season. I'm ready for new players, new leaders, new playmakers... because the ones IU has just can't deliver in "winning time".
There certainly guys I hope come back, and players I hope to see step up in to a bigger role next season... Geronimo, Bates and Galloway being the 3 guys I'd like to see take over this team in the next few years. They all have that same dog in them that Xavier has, they just need the PT to show it on the floor.
And no... I have no faith this team can win two games in Indy next week. Michigan is the absolute worst match up this team could draw, and it's their first road block. Skill 5 who is bigger and more physical than TJD. A rangy athletic 4 who can jump over Race... a streaky but long 3 that is what Kopp would be if he were athletic. And they'll be on a mission to destroy IU to get in to the tournament and get that shot at Wisconsin again.
