IU has a new theme song.....

With the exception of the Arkansas game, this team finds ways to win close games. Even in that game they had a good look to win that just didn't go in.

True. My point is not condemnation of team but determination. They have been livin on a prayer the last 3 games but they have proven against a very good Marquette team that they can hang. They need a vocal leader who can bring out the toughness earlier in the game. I think this team needs a lot of work in areas but the good thing is they have a never give up attitude. I truly hope the shooting improves as Big Ten season rolls on .For the most part,I have always enjoyed the dialogue with most Hoosier posters here. There are a few who believe they are the only ones with basketball knowledge though. I try to just ignore someone's sarcastic remarks. I guess they just like the attention. I've followed IU since 69-70. I was a frosh in high school then.

The offense that Archie uses is a legit style, but it won't offer the kind of domination that 3pt rain gardens do. That being said , I'll take the defense and just expect a lot of close games.

We've tried "3 pt rain gardens" under a previous coach. For us, they're a lot like abstinence: they work great when they work but a lot of times they just don't work.

That comes from football, where it's true.

In basketball defense wins conference titles.

A combination of both wins championships.

Teams without good offenses get upset in the early rounds.

Signed,

Virginia.

True. But UNC and Villanova rely mostly on offense and have 5 titles between them in 14 years I believe. You have to be able to score.

Yeah, “three point rain gardens”...I like that. In the PU/Texas game...by the way, PU has had it’s share of close games, too...C. Edwards hit 7-14 three pointers but the rest of the team was only 2-18. 32 of their team’s 65 shots were from behind the three point line. They only had 6 assists, 3 from Edwards. It was Edward’s homecoming game so it looks like Painter just let him put on his own show. Texas shot 47 times with 25 of those being 3 pointers. Try and tell me the three point line hasn’t changed the game and perhaps in a negative way. It definitely levels the playing field and gives lesser teams a chance, but I can see why Bob Knight wouldn’t care for it from a coach of tactical mind.
