IU Classic?

Depends. For IU fans living in IN, yes.

otoh, this does give IU exposure to new fans, and perhaps helps from a recruiting standpoint.
I don't think any of these teams expands IU's recruiting footprint.

If they felt the need to have one of these types of events...I wonder if inviting 3 HBCUs might have had more benefit than these 3 teams? Or as has been mentioned, 3 smaller Indiana schools?

Obviously there are a ton of things that go into these schedules, that none of us have a clue on. This group of teams seams random, and not overly beneficial in any way though?...

Not sure. Are there connections (former assistants, etc.)? RMK scheduled a bunch of games against former assistants to help out their programs.

Miami has a guy on staff from Bloomington South, Jonathan Holmes. Maybe an additional link with his Dad JR?

Ark Little Rock HC Darrel Walker was with Woody in NY as both a player and later as an assistant coach. Woody missed being teammates with Walker when the Knicks dealt him.

I don't know of a connection with Jackson State.

It's just a scheduling loophole. There's a restriction of 29 regular season games without playing a multi team event, which gets bumped up to 31 if playing in a multi team event. NCAA doesn't care if a school hosts their own or takes part in a 3rd party event (eg Maui).

It allows IU to schedule cupcakes that it would have regardless, but condense it down into a back to back days around finals/holidays when player schedules are a bit tighter, and allow greater flexibility with the rest of the OOC schedule and get the maximum game allotment.

It’s totally random and a complete joke. These guys have no clue what to do since Woodson has only coached in college for a year and this is all rocket science. This staff should all be fired for this atrocity

What will the format be? One source I read looked like three games in five days which if true is a decent prep for quick turns in league and in tournament.

DITTO your opinion. Schedules are complicated for sure. So I wonder if postponing the Classic a year to expand possibilities for a better product would be a good move. I do like the aggressive posture of the program to make changes from the past. KU and Zona prove good things can be made to happen. Hopefully the Classic year 2 will show an upgrade. Improvement is the goal. But it does offer an opportunity for people who would not normally get to see the Hoosiers.
