• The celebration on the Hoosiers bench was short-lived as the Spartans went back on top seven minutes later with Krolicki's second goal of the night coming in the 55th minute. • Indiana's pressure around the Michigan State net led to its second goal and a 2-2 tie in the 80th minute as a ball in went off Spartan Zach Carroll and into the MSU net for an own goal.
• For the second time on the night Michigan State jumped right back on top, this time taking a 3-2 lead just 2:29 after the Indiana score. Jay Chapman whipped a ball into the box, finding the head of Adam Montague for the game-winning score.
• Indiana had a golden opportunity to tie it again with five minutes left in regulation when Foldesy found himself open on the right post but his attempt glided wide right.
• Indiana finished on top in shots 20-13 but just four of those 20 shots were on frame. In addition to Thompson's five shots, Oliver had three attempts with two on frame. Webb tallied four saves in the match.

EVANSTON, Ill -- With the game not decided after 110 minutes of action and a 1-1 score, it came down to penalty kicks where the sixth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers prevailed over third seed Northwestern (9-3-6) by a 5-4 score in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Illinois.

The Hoosiers (11-3-5) advance to play Ohio State on Friday in the semifinal round in College Park, Maryland. The Buckeyes were 1-0 winners over Michigan on Sunday.

Indiana had a pair of chances in the early minutes with a shot from Femi Hollinger-Janzen, but his shot was just wide right of the net.

Despite attacking into a 20 mph wind with gusts in the first half, Indiana was putting the pressure on Northwestern's backs.

Dylan Lax put Indiana up in the 17th minute with his first goal of the season, taking a shot from 25 yards out after a pass back from Foldesy. With Indiana shooting into the wind Lax caught NU goalkeeper Tyler Miller out of position as he sent it in high straight down the middle.

Tanner Thompson took a shot on the run that was just wide of the target as Indiana continued to press for a second goal in the first half.

The Wildcats tied things up with 7:08 left to play in the first half with a slip header from Nikko Boxall off a free kick from Brandon Medina finding the lower left corner of the net past a stretched out Colin Webb.

The teams finished the half knotted at 1-all with teams even in shots at 6-6. Indiana held a slight advantage in corner kicks at 3-2.

There was not a lot of action on the field for the first 15 minutes of action in the second half. Thompson had a corner kick for IU that was cleared out, and the rebound found Patrick Doody but he mis-hit his shot.

Both teams had just three shots through the first 38 minutes of the second half as the weather played a major role in the flow of both teams' attack.

In the 86th minute the Hoosiers had a tantalizing chance when Thompson fired off a rocket from 30 yards out that caromed off the inside edge of the left post and out.

For the fifth time in the last six meetings the teams went to extra time. Richard Ballard had a shot on the IU counter in the second minute of overtime but Miller saved his attempt. The corner kick from Doody was picked out of the air by Miller. The counter began after a shot from NU's Joey Calistri was blocked out of danger by the Hoosiers.

A corner kick from Tanner Thompson in the 95th minute bounced around in the box but after touching a few Hoosier boots went out over the end line for a Northwestern goal kick.

Indiana dominated the second overtime but each time it got near the box found its shots blocked or picked off their feet. Andrew Oliver had three shots blocked in a five-minute period in the second overtime.

It came down to penalty kicks to decide who would advance. Hollinger-Janzen was successful for IU in the first round, as was Calistri for NU. In round two Thompson's shot was good while Eric Weberman sent his high. Trevor Swartz and Oliver were successful for IU, as were Grant Wilson and Miller for the Wildcats.

Miller saved Indiana's fifth shot from Kyle Sparks, and Connor Holloway hit his to have the two teams tied at 4-4 after five rounds. In round six Webb stepped up and made his shot, while Drew Rosenberg hit is off the cross bar, giving IU the 5-4 win.
