If you're referring to me, you missed my point. AT INDIANA, cheaters get fired, and rightly so. The fact that they don't get fired everywhere is the problem. It does not mean that Indiana should tolerate coaches who cheat because other places do.
As for Kansas, the book isn't closed yet. Emmert acknowledged the problem in a presser earlier this week that the current system (designed by the Condoleeza Rice commission) is far too slow in processing violations cases. I'm not making excuses for the NCAA, which simply sucks in my opinion, but simply saying that the fact that nothing has been done yet doesn't mean the hammer won't fall eventually. It also doesn't mean that any meaningful punishment will ultimately be forthcoming.
I rooted like crazy for 'Nova, both because I love the way they play the game and I believe them to be an honorable program. The other three teams I believe to be poster children for all that is wrong with college athletics and among the biggest rules violators in the nation. I especially hate Duke for its duplicity in trying to portray itself as a bastion of morality. At least Kansas and N. Carolina embrace their reputations as being willing to openly defy any and all rules.
I really hope Kansas wins Monday night, not that I will watch. I have no interest in watching as one slimy program beats another equally slimy program. But if Kansas wins and then has to vacate its title, it will at least serve up a dose of egg-on-the-face that the NCAA so richly deserves.
