Many times now I will be in the middle of typing a post or response, and the page will “refresh” - making my new post disappear before I’m done. If I hit “refresh” it sometimes re-appears, but mostly I want to throw my device at something.

It has some sort of glitch. It does that on my iPhone and has for months.

Off topic but is anybody here having seemingly random issues with Metronet lately?

App connectivity issues across multiple platforms eg. smart tv, phone, Roku. Assuming DNS because it’s always DNS. Signal strength is strong. No concerns there. Their support is nearly worthless.

Then change it. I've used Level3's free dns servers for forever.

4.2.2.1-5

Google offers free dns as well. I use it as my backup.

8.8.8.8

And so does CloudFlare
1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1 plus 1.1.1.3 (beware this blocks adult content so you can't get to PornHub 🤣 🤣 )
They also have so IPv6 addresses

I've had that trouble before with them so I think I have my DNS servers set to Google's DNS servers.

I've been having intermittent problems for a couple of weeks. And you're right, their support is the worst. Makes Comcast look like a JD Powers award winner.

You guys should come with a translator.
What the hell they talkin bout?

And why do I think I need it all of a sudden? I feel like I'm missing out on something that I didn't even know I had a problem with.

FIX MY CRAP !!!! I think, anyway.

I had previously changed it to google.. Something must have undone that.

Don’t get me wrong. When working it’s the best option in town. Lately has been a problem. Reddit seems to think they’ve outgrown their hardware a bit. Who knows. Last month or so there have been pretty significant outages lasting 12 hours or more. I know I know. First world problems but we live in the first world so do better I guess.

How are ISPs regulated. State level?

And no mark and NPT of course I didn’t check before asking here. But I’d have had to open my laptop, login. Would have been an ordeal

Yes. I have been on the phone 2-3 times this past week, and had a service rep at the house Saturday morning. Slow internet, slow TV, basically nothing works. Both the rep on the phone and the dude that came to the house said drop the cable and go with youtube TV. They said they are trying to get all customers to do that, and just keep the internet hookups. I guess that is what we will do.
On a side note, I asked the rep on the phone that since nothing works are they going to reduce my bill? He said yes, I will take $30 off. Yippee!!

That's what a DNS server is.

Seriously, this issue needs to be dealt with. I’ve been bothered by for a at least a year, and sought out solutions to it. Relieved to read I’m not the only one with this

The bar for this site on my iPhone went grey and can’t be used. No bold, image, link etc

Just saw that myself… reloading the page didn’t bring back the text that is usually auto saved.

I know but it's an ordeal when Metronet DNS servers get screwed up and you can't get to websites and like I told you it happened to me a couple times with them and took me a little while to figure out what was going on so I just said screw them and pointed mine to Google's DNS servers and haven't had any problems yet.

Note: DNS=Domain Name Server ---- in short it takes the web site you're trying to go to and translates it into an IP address which is really how you get to any site.

Yeah, switched it back to Google and no issues so far. Metronet is great, to be fair. I think they've just grown a little too quickly but grabbing market share is the name of the game once you get those fiber lines in. So, I can't blame them.
